@michaelhernandez7700 My friend gave me a tamale that had string and wrapped in a leaf, with yellow rice and pigeon peas, with some smoked pork shoulder. It was amazing, I've been wanting to go to eat in this parade ever since.

Tito Puente's mom, Ercilia Ortiz was from San Germán, the town the parade was dedicated to today and my hometown. Doña Ercilia was the first person to notice her son's musical talent, especifically in percussion bc according to Tito himself he used to drive her crazy practicing with her pots and pans in her kitchen. She also had a lot to do with him starting music lessons and the rest is history.

I was at the parade today and I felt a different vibe. It was well put together and I'm happy that I went. It was pouring rain this morning on the way there and then it cleared up now I'm back home Long Island and I'm actually watching the whole channel 7 news on KZread the whole Puerto Rican parade today and I missed a couple of things all the performances that they have live at the stand. Also videos that they sent him Puerto Rico and Maui, Hawaii with us a whole bunch of Puerto Ricans that migrated they been 8000s I never knew that great to know.

Then on March 2, 1917 it IMPOSED (nobody asked for it) the US citizenship on all Puerto Ricans as a result of the Jones Act in order to be able to force them into their military.
