The Supreme Court refused to follow the very clear language of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Instead, they muddied it and made up their own rules. I believe it was spearheaded by Roberts, who although he pretends to want to make the best decisions, has become entranced by his own cleverness and created this disaster, helped by Alito and Thomas.

"Justice for the American people" is not a concern for the MAGA supreme court.

Luttig is a true conservative. I'm liberal/Democrat. Luttig and I would likely not agree on many issues and policies but we could both sit together to break bread and discuss American history and our love for the United States. One saving grace is that there is no law that would stop the courts from running every day before, after and even DURING election day. Though I don't see a trial on election day doing anything but causing a myriad of logistical problems, so that day would likely be skipped.

There is no one more measured, cautious and conservative than Judge Luttig. That's my impression, anyway, so his sense of alarm, which is evident, and his impassioned call for beginning the trial as soon as possible, I very much hope is being heard in the right places.

I have been alarmed for a very long time. I wrote letter to Senator Rob Portman about my view of Trump as another Hitler. I just never thought the Supreme Court would go along with fascism. Judges are not needed in Russia. The Dictator decides everything. Your law education is a waste if you have no job. I am totally perplexed. Are they so in the moment thinnkers that they do not even consider how horrible it is to live in Russia.

No judges should be appointed by politicians. They should be appointed by a totally independent committee consisting of a wide range of lawyers, academics, professionals and ordinary citizens as is the case in much of Europe. Only then can you hope for a more unbiased judiciary and a fair system. As it is, the SCOTUS is totally corrupt and wields too much power.

Don't throw out Kagan, Sotomayor, and Jackson. Their experience and smarts are worth keeping. They're just outnumbered due to Moscow Mitch stealing appointments so that Trump got 3.

Bingo! And it's my understanding that the decision NOT to bring an indictment or start a trial against a presidential candidate so close to an Election is NOT A LAW!!! It's an AGREEMENT made within the DOJ by its leadership. So, now, an unprecedented situation now calls for unprecedented actions!!! (And as Prof. Tribe said, this is NOT a new case; it's the continuation of a case that should have gone to trial this past March.)

It's so entertaining to have these two great legal scholars agree with the people of good will opinion posted some time ago. Trump's trial has nothing to do with interfering with the present election, but rather an indicted criminal trying to interfere with it, who in our opinion should've been disqualified from holding office according to the 14th Amendment section 3 in the first place.

These two brilliant judges are right; one way or the other, J Smith needs to bring this to trial ASAP.

It’s time for Congress & the President to exercise their authority by defunding substantially the Supreme Court’s budget. Right now they are requesting a $20 million increase in their personal security. I say cut their existing security budget and curtail the number of law clerks substantially.

I agree with judge Luttig 100% on proceeding with the trial even in Sept or Oct. I’m not a judge or lawyer but I did seek to become a lawyer years ago and I’ve learned a lot from the many lawyers and judges on you tube and I thank them all as they have taught me a lot.

I so appreciate the patriotoism and intelligence of these two august figures of American democracy. Please God hear our plea.
