what do we do if they told us to solve 3sin(x/2)-1? I understand that Y is stretched to max at 3 and min at -3 then subtracted, maximum is at 2, and minimum is at -4, but I don't understand how we divide x by 2, I tried doing it, but it is a totally different graph from what is shown in the book.

So when you have stretch by 1/2x, your graph is stretched out by scale of 2. So your first amplitude would be at 180* instead of 90*
