There were two events which happened today in Britain. The first, was the leader of the Labour party Sir Keir Starmer, finally coming out publicly and demanding a complete end to the bombings in Gaza. Soon after the BBC announced that the son of the King of England, prince William backed up his call for a total ceasefire in Gaza. Wow ! For any member of the royal family to make such a statement in public relating to the present conflict, is massive. Also today, the labour party are holding an open vote on the issue which was put before the house of commons by the Scottish Nationalist party for a complete ceasefire in Gaza. The winds are changing people !

As a Dutch I do not agree with the Dutch Kingdom. Short occupation in 67 would have been legal. But seeing how long the Occupation has become it also means the natives have the right to self defence. Israel cannot claim self defence based on the self defence of the Palestinians. Its a loop that would continue forever. As long as you are the occupier there will be forces opposing the occupation. We live in 2024, times have changed. You cannot hold people hostage for something that has happened so long time ago. If Israël is afraid of attacks then let the International community protect the external borders and IDF the internal borders of Israel. And we need be realistic. If the occupation ends today does not automatically mean that everything is forgotten and under the bridge.. People need to see change, they need to see a future for their children. They need to see their lives improving.. They need to see that they have an Identity that they can show without getting shut or arrested. Will there be parents or children wanting revenge, probably. But lets make this the last generation that wants revenge.

For something which happened do long ago ! The Palestinians have no case to answer from way back in time. They committed no crimes against anyone let alone the jews. To add to the two great answers above, I believe it's because Britain and America have failed to be proper friends to their so called closest ally over the years. A proper friend whispers in the ear of a true friend "hey Bob, your fly is open, or hey John, you have spinach in your teeth, etc. True friends do not wish that their friends are seen in an embarrassing state, or making fools of themselves, or doing something they will regret for the rest of their lives. If America and Britain were true friends of Israel, they would have forced them long ago to make peace with the Palestinians and cease with their apartheid system. Today I am witnessing things I thought were impossible only a year ago. Today, the son of the English King , prince William released a public statement calling for a complete cessation of the bombings in Gaza. Just after this, the leader of the labour party Sir Keir Starmer also announced that his party are in favor of a complete ceasefire. The announcement from the prince is the more powerful of the two.
