Try going back to games you haven't replayed/100% yet. I'm going through my back catalog or playing indie games that need love this year and having a blast. Lots of stuff we all miss out on with so many releases last few years

Nope, Valorant is completely safe! It's made by Riot Games, a well-respected company in the gaming industry. They've put a lot of effort into making sure their game is secure and respects your privacy. Plus, it's been around since 2020 without any major security issues popping up.

They're referring to Vanguard, which is Riot's Anticheat software. It is invasive and controversial, though not technically malware. It was kind of a meme a few years back.

The anti-cheat is what you are relating to, it has high level security privileges permissions that can access the kernel/root level of someone's computer when the software is utilising/processing & running in the background, all it takes is for someone to hack Riot Game's server's via a lacking or disgruntled employee then that hacker or hackers will get a 100% takeover access privilege of possibly thousands of computers that they can then install malware/spyware or ransomware or even just nefariously making the user's computers defunct.
