LIVE Civil War Fife and Drum Medley - Carolina Fifes and Drums + 3rd USV
Listen to two of the most famous American Civil War Fife & Drum Tunes… KEEMO KIMO & The Girl I Left Behind Me - while learning the history behind the tunes, and watching some of the best Period Musicians in the country play them in an authentic manner.
This Fife and Drum tune was filmed during a jam session on the original Ground of Chancellorsville Virginia, played by the renowned Carolina Fife and Drums, joined by the 3rd United States Volunteers Fife and Drum. The lead, and multiple Confederate musicians are members of the Broken Toys Mess.
Thank you to the musicians, event staff, and the 1781 Brewery, for hosting this phenomenal event on the original Battlefield ground where General Jackson lost his arm.
~ Thank you for watching, and have a historic day! ~

The battlefield has grown ridiculously busy and violent. If only there were time for fife and drum.

It certainly was always busy and violent… the field music had a very unique place.
Awesome ❤ I was at a reenactment this weekend and wasn’t on
Cool! Appreciate this living rendition! Well done to these fellas!
Thanks History Boy i like the sound of drums nice tunes
Hey, that's basically King Kong Kitchie Kitchie Ki-Me-O. Very cool!
The Girl I left behind is one of my favorites and it's perfect for marching to. Heck, during the Mexican-American War, many regiments were marching off to Mexico singing as they marched and the Mormon battalion actually sang it when they marched off to Fort Leavenworth.
Very cool😎
I got to meet a few of these fantastic musicians at the 160th of Gettysburg

I met the man in the light grey kepi and the man with the curly mustache at the daniel lady farm event, I also got to play with them, although I didn’t know many of the songs that they played so I had to mostly play by ear.
Awesome I just got back from a reenactment can you make one of Dixie

We already have a Brass Band version and lyrical version of “To Arms in Dixie,” on the channel! If I catch a Fife and Drum jam of the song, I’ll be sure to film it.
I always like the fife and drum 🥁.... Good tunes. My home state host the NMLRA National Spring Shoot. Starting in a few days. In a place called Friendship, Indiana. 9 days long event. It’s good to see some young guys doing history events. Keeps it going. Thanks 😊

DUDE YOU WERE AT BLALKELY?!? NO WAY. Didn’t know I had a fellow authentic as part of the community! Would love to attend that event for 1865. Two years…. I certainly agree regarding field music, and have seen the musicians at that event. It absolutely adds a whole other dimension, which is vital.

A pleasure Ms. Lewis.
Fantastic Medley. Isn't the first tune called "Frog In The Well" ? It was played during the scene where the 20th Maine is marching out.

Absolutely it is! I include the history of the song at the bottom of the screen during the video, and state the name quite clearly there for all, as many people recognize that title far better! Much more of a famous name in Fife and Drum rather than in minstrelsy.
