Don't feel bad for opponent 3. He was looking for a reason to be mad, looking to deflect his reason for losing. Especially don't feel bad if he sent a lot more than what you read out to the chat. I know how nasty people can be at around this rating level when they're losing. It's part of why they stay there at that rating as their anger stunts their ability to learn.

It's still annoying to have someone way above your level beat you when you were looking for an evenly matched game of chess. I don't think he deserves an unfair match-up.

All points won by Nelson’s account are refunded to the opponent, there’s no reason to be upset. The only way the opponent would know he’s playing against a NM is if he also reads the bio and sees the conditions.

@@danielyuan9862Yep. Ultimately though, this is open play and there are no protections for true equal rated games. It's best just to accept the reality that a good chunk of c.c games aren't going to be peer-level play (assuming he had inputted a tight ratings range). Besides the cheaters (which I constantly get points back on a regular basis from) and un-/authorized speed-runs, there are a lot of high rated players who make use of multi-accounts. As they go about (re)establishing those additional accounts to their true level, they too cause distortions. So it's a mess. If someone truly wants a fair game, I'm afraid they have to look elsewhere. Say, a local club.

@@leokraushaar1115Yes. The only argument is it effects stats in various ways since the game remains in history. With enough completed games, that eventually becomes immaterial though. Nowadays, there are quite a few people doing speed runs...both authorized and unauthorized.

I hope a couple of angry opponents doesn't put you off. This has been the most fascinating series and it's super interesting seeing how your opponents play differently as their ratings improve. As a 1200 it's really eye-opening (with the help of your analysis) to see the blunders in plain sight when they are not exactly obvious to me in a live game.

Side note but I also love that you keep these videos educational and don't just flex how good you are. Thanks for the videos!

I can understand frustration playing a good player maybe, but it's VERY unnecessary to spam "zzz" while opponents take time. Or report for cheating the moment they don't fall for your traps. Or talk trash consistently after. Or deliberately let the clock run to 0 to waste the opponent's time. Even against a speed run account, that player should get in trouble for running the clock to 0.

Everything I learned was from my own limited over the board playing back in the 1970s and '80s. I think that watching and listening to you and other chess masters on KZread is going to be necessary for me to realize any significant improvement. Yours and Naroditsky's narrations have been the most helpful for me so far. Probably should get some books also. What about Modern Chess Openings? Do you (or anyone) recommend that book? Thanks and thumbs up.

Yes, but if you talk with the rook you only win a pawn. But if you take with the knight, which is what he did, you immediately fork the king and queen. If the king moves, you take the queen, so they take the knight with the rook, and then you re-capture with the rook and you are up an exchange. If you take with the rook, all you win is a pawn😀. (Because he doesn’t have to take back)
