I am eating two Nigel cakes as I watch this (by chance!) - Banana and Cardamom and Lemon and Thyme, with a steaming cup of tea as the rain beats outside. The first cook book I ever bought was by Nigel Slater, when I was 17. This interview is pure joy. Thank you.
Miss his cooking shows- wonderful cook and writer:
How wonderfully illuminating. And I so love Nigel Slater. Thank you for this video and your conversation about pottery, and Nigel's thoughts. Happy New Year! 💛

Us too!
So pleased you feel that way about the work of a potter. Ceramic pieces are like food, to be shared, over and over again.
Very good listen Thank you and Nigel.
katef not Richard....I came across this video while surfing for something completely different on YT. Having read one of Nigel's books, "Eating for England", I think, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I began watching this video and had to immediately put it on pause to tidy up the room in which I was watching! The room in which Mr. Slater is speaking could be mistaken for a very elegant, minimalist asian gallery with all that exquisite pottery displayed. It's always surprising to hear the voice of a writer whom you only "know" through reading...totally different experience...but very pleasant... Well, back to the video for an enjoyable hour of serendipity.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying it.
Nigel is one of my biggest influences on my culinary life, the others being Nigella and Jamie Oliver.
Love to see more of your cooking
Just watched film about Nigel. Absolutely brilliant. “A Bay Window Accent”.

I'll check it out. Thanks.
BACK IN 2004, I WAS STILL VERY YOUNG. I REMEMBER NIGEL SLATER. HE COOKS GOOD.
Seriously, who would put high quality pottery through the dishwasher? From someone who purports to love Japan that is about as unzen as you could possibly get.
Could you do a Goldmark Gallery video about packing pots for shipping and how you do it so they travel safely without breaking?
just beautiful
Very interesting about chef compared to cook.
Slater's a bit of alright
