Max's South Seas Hideaway not only has some of the best vintage and modern tiki decor in the country, but it also has some of the best cocktails! We start with a quick talk with owner, Mark Sellers, and then move on to make a flaming bowl drink with lead bartender, Erin.
You may notice some video and sound quality issues. When I do shows away from The Breezeway, the one-man-production-team in me has a tough time getting it perfect. It will get better with time. Hopefully it's not too much of a distraction from the show. It's a fun one, regardless!
To make the the drink in the video you will need:

1½ oz fresh lime juice
1 oz orgeat
1 oz dry curaçao
1 oz fresh orange juice
1 oz Jamaican Pot Still Black Rum (Hamilton)
1 oz Light Overproof rum (Wray & Nephew)
2 oz light Puerto Rican rum (Hamilton White Stache)

Put everything in a blender and and mix at high speed for 20 seconds.
Pour into a volcano bowl and serve with two long straws.

Cool video! I was fortunate to have been in Grand Rapids for a conference last year and was blown away by Max's - I went there twice in three days. Not only are the drinks excellent, but the food was as well. This is truly a Tiki Palace!
Dude looked at Austin, TX and ended up in Grand Rapids, MI. Like the only reason to go there now is for Max's. lol

I'm trying to get some friends together to go see Max's soon. To have a tiki bar so highly recommended by Spike just an hour form home is Amazing.
Maybe the Hula Girls should perform there!!??
