To stitch over 2 on evenweave it helps to think of each stitch as a hashtag # and your needle and thread go through the 4 corner squares of the hashtag. I hope this helps some people

Hi Susan, I have a couple questions. Do you stitch over two on 25 count? If not is it some what easy to see over one? I’m itching too venture from Adia.

I hope on the next talk about Even weave can you actually show how to count up, down or sideways - on aida you just count the squares but with even weave I’m afraid of not counting right - can you show a simple pattern to demo

Great video. Very informative for me. Has FQS considered offering packages of the ‘top 5 best selling’ or Kimberly’s top 5 for us to purchase? I think it would be a great option for both aida and evenweave cloths.

I use 14 count aida, monaco, 28 count lugana, 28 count evenweave. I have found those work best for me.

I wish I watched these before my most recent order. I was struggling to figure out which fabric is best. I guess I’ll have to get back online and order knowing what I want to try now. Edit: thanks for the great info.

Wow, did I need to watch this!! I thought evenweave was linen!!! Learned so very much today! I will be referring to this video often. Hello Donna! Not necessarily - if you start on 28 evenweave, the stitches are going to be the same size as the stitches on 14 count. The whole thing with evenweave is getting used to stitching over two

Hello Mary! Yes, there are patterns for 25 and 27 count. 28 and 32 are typically the suggested sizes or their Aida equivalent.

I use the ISE Cross Stitch Key a lot, love it! Kimberly mentioned Fabric Flair screen prints on one side of their evenweave fabric. Does the Fabric Flair evenweave shrink since it's screen printed vs hand dyed?

These videos are so informative but I always have trouble hearing your videos. I had been watching Nichol Spohrs button video which I heard good & then came to this video & could hardly hear you at all. Has anyone else experienced this? Doubled the volume on the TV & barely made a difference.

Totally agree with you Norma. Linen is even weave and so is Aida. I wish the term evenweave would stop being used for those fabrics such as lugana, jobelan, etc. why not just call them by the manufacturers name for them. All the fabrics we use are evenweave unless otherwise stated.( like 52/60 linen). Sooo frustrating

Technically that is true, except for the linens that are 52/60, etc. The reason they are usually referred to that way is because the threads in linen are not all the same thickness (while lugana, jobelan, etc are) so basically some stitches vary a little in size because some of threads are thicker than others. Most people ‘group’ fabric into the three categories; aida, evenweave and linen. If you want to be literal about evenweave and linen, all those fabrics are evenweaves, because there are the same number of threads ‘making up each square’/same number of thread running vertically and horizontally, which would include all linens except for those minority linens that have different number of vertical threads than horizontal threads.

I must respectfully disagree with your definition of evenweave. The term evenweave means there are the same number of warp threads as weft threads. Therefore being even. A square will stitch up square. The term evenweave has nothing to do with the thickness of each individual threads. By definition all fabrics that we cross stitch on are evenweave unless otherwise stated such as your 52/60 linens. So aida, lugana, murano, linda, hardanger, jobelan, davos, linen, congress cloth, mono canvas are ALL examples of evenweave. The industry has not done us any favors by calling only certain fabrics evenweave. That has by all means added to the confusion. It is just my personal opinion that we need to call these fabrics (that the industry calls evenweave ) by their actual name. Lugana/ jobelan/ davos/linda etc. and not use the term evenweave when we are speaking of them. Only use the term evenweave when speaking of the entire category of fabrics used to cross stitch. Such as to say when you want to do a counted needlework you want to use fabrics that are evenweave such as linen aida lugana etc. just another note. Aida may be made up of many threads to create the square but it is evenweave by definition. Remember the term evenweave means the same number of threads squares horizontally and vertically.
