    Ecellent I want to start making jewlry keepsakes keychains or just some interesting paperweight cabs, and your videos instruct and inpire. My grandfather used to do this and I always wanted to try it but forgot how he did it now it appears quite clear, LOL. Thanks. You could use a little theme music song, you can use a public domain clip or classical so you dont run into copywrite royalty issue problems, they take down our videos for that now .so we dont want that. I use apple loops sometimes they are ready made public clips for music and video producers.

    Hi, I received the order from Little-Windows and I love everything! I look forward to ordering more supplies :) I have only one question: where can I find a book on resin? Something that explains everything for beginners (techniques, dos and don'ts etc.) I'm very passionate about starting a small resin jewelry business, but I'm overwhelmed with the lack of information (I found just a few books, but nothing very good). Thank you very much! P.S. I wish you wrote a book on Resin. You're the best teacher I found on KZread.

    Hi ladyjarhead! If you use liquid resin between you'll need to make sure to clean up whatever squishes out the edges, and let it set up for 12 hours. I'm just not patient so I go for the double-sided adhesive with a sealant around the little white line at the edges. Can't wait to see what YOU make next :)

    HI, just wondering how you use all your 15 ml resin with just the start up kit. You say to use it all but the kit only has enough for 3 molds and a plate for maybe 4 more. Please let me know if I have to wait and order more supplies. I don't want to waste the resin since its not that cheap to buy. Thanks Tammy

  • @LittleWindowsResin

    @LittleWindowsResin

    9 жыл бұрын

    What I Like To Watch Hello Tammy, The Starter Kit includes enough resin to mix 3 of these 15ml batches, but one batch is 1 tablespoon, so it's a pretty efficient system. The mold included - if you fill all 3 cavities to the top - can use up the entire first 15ml batch. If you choose, you can make 3 castings filled about half-way, which is a nice depth for pendants, then use the rest for a few domed pieces, or fill the bezel that also comes in the Kit. With your first batch you should get the hang of how far the resin will go. Hope that helps :)

    Just tried your resin on a heart shaped photo project. I cut out the hearts instead of using your punches as they were shaped differently. The doming on front photo went well, but when I decided to dome in glitter for the backs...DISASTER! The glitter resin didn't stop at the edges and ran over to the front. So, now I have huge bumps of glitter resin to remove from the front clear photo side. What fine grit size sand paper could I use to remove those bumps? Then I'd need to re-dome in clear resin the photo side after bump removal. Thanks.

  • @LittleWindowsResin

    @LittleWindowsResin

    9 жыл бұрын

    Monica Dockery Hello Monica, it pays to be conservative when doming. You can actually use a larger grit for removing the bumps, you could even start with a nail file, just make sure it's a bit damp so you don't have resin dust floating around - that can be irritating. Once you've sanded down the bump, you can use a finer grit to smooth it a bit, maybe 600 grit, but don't be too stressed, when you apply another coat of resin it should shine it up again. You may want to fine-sand a bit around the whole edge of the piece, to give it some tooth for the resin to grab, that way it won't be as likely to flow over. Another tip is to let the resin thicken up in your cup a bit longer. Hope that helps :)

    If you dome the front and the back side of the same piece, does that seam still need super glue?

  • @LittleWindowsResin

    @LittleWindowsResin

    4 жыл бұрын

    Nope, Double-Sided doming of the same piece will be fine you'll only need to seal that edge when you're attaching 2 pieces back to back to ensure no moisture gets between them. Thanks for asking Courtney!

    Question: Why put two pieces together? Why not just print it back to back and then no need to glue together?

  • @LittleWindowsResin

    @LittleWindowsResin

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hey Kim! That's a great question. You can certainly print on both sides of our Double-Sided Photo Paper, but some people find it tricky to get them lined up perfectly, so this method is a bit easier on that count. Another pro to doing it this way is that you only need to mix up 1 batch of resin because you're doming both sides at the same time. This also means you can finish your pieces faster, as you only need wait for one set-up time. So the choice is yours. Thanks so much for asking, creative friend :) - Fran

    Don't care for the double adhesive at all Use E-6000 or LocTite Ultraliquid Super Glue. Contrary to what you said below, E-6000 IS waterproof. In fact, it will survive trips through the washer AND the dryer.

    Thank you TechSupport100, our tests haven't shown waterproof results with E6000, so I appreciate your feedback. We prefer a dry adhesive for projects like this, where back-to-back pieces need to be completely flush without having adhesive squirt out the edges, but it's certainly subjective. It's great to have options :)

    I don't understand why you dont just put both pics glued together back to back in mold and than dome the one side when cured? this will also eliminate the space in the middle which is kind of unfinished looking :)

    Hello Tracey, you certainly could use the Doming Up technique, as you've suggested, but there are three reasons why you may not want to: 1) Working upside-down in a mold is tricky, especially when you add in a flat photo. It's common to get bubbles stuck underneath it, and even if you could see them, it's difficult to remove them. 2) The second reason is aesthetic, domed pieces are smooth and thin and rounded, kind of like a plastic pancake, while cast pieces are more chunky. and 3) When you're making something like a bracelet or charm that will be pressed into your arm as you rest, domed pieces are more comfortable. Hope that helps explain why we'd choose the Doming Technique for this project :)
