LOL Love this movie - my dad's from Italia, and not only saw the film, he had the all the songs on it. "Ma che te ne fai?" is so catchy & fun to this day I find myself humming it when I'm happy. It's a bizarre film, but it is FUN and there are actually some laugh-out-loud scenes (I can't see the judge sentencing Black Stan to death & using the Italian "you are SO dead" hand gesture without busting out laughing). It's fun and a palate cleanser for all the sweaty overly-serious spaghetti westerns out there. And those songs... *sigh*

That's American actor and bodybuilder Gordon Mitchell as Silly Bull (also called Sitting Bison in some translations). You may recognize him from about 200 Italian sword-and-sandal movies. Apparently, this is what he ended up doing after that genre burned itself out.

Rita Pavone is not only still in show business (as are both her sons), but was at the center of a huge controversy when she married her agent at the age of 17. Not because of her age (I think 16 is the Italian age of consent anyway), but because he was still technically married; the guy had separated from his first wife, but at that point in Italy divorce was still illegal.

Have seen this before on KZread, and it is, to say the least, one of a kind, though there were other comic Spaghetti Westerns like "For A Few Dollars Less" with Lando Buzzanca that were made before Terence Hill and Bud Spencer's films ended up taking over that genre in the early '70's. Also, and you probably know this, Stoned Gremlin Productions, there are multiple Spaghetti Western film reference gags loaded into this film, like Little Rita and Django's game of "Footsie", which references a simliar scene between The Man With No Name and Colonel Mortimer's game in "For A Few Dollars More". Thanks for taking this one on!

wow I didn't think that these movies were available outside of Italy. The funny thing is that nowadays Lucio Dalla is considered one of our finest songwriters, while Rita Pavone is just a trashy 60s icon. I'm looking forward to see a "Vacanze di Natale '95" review since you've mentioned it in your New York Ripper video, those movies belong to a genre called "cinepanettoni" and they are often considered to be THE WORST OF THE WORST OF THE WORST here in Italy.

I've heard of the western musical Paint Your Wagon, but I never heard of an Italian western musical. 2:12- Ha. I'd love to see you review that Nazi musical. Also, I hope to God that it's a comedy. Is it just me, or does Rita kinda look like a young Alyson Hannigan? 9:18- If this is a gay western, we would see these guys get Fisted Full of Dollars. 18:24- So THIS is what happened to the town drunk from Blazing Saddles. =P I've obviously heard of Custer's Revenge thanks to AVGN and Game Boys, ...but I have never before heard of General Retreat (AKA Custer's Revenge: The Opposite Edition). 21:22- I've seen Rita's Wikipedia page, and she was 22 when this movie was released. Why does this remind me of the Puccini opera The Girl in the Golden West? It's not as well-known as La Boheme, Tosca, Madama Butterfly or Turandot, but it's kinda interesting opera because it's a western sung in Italian opera. Rather odd, but Puccini has always had unusual settings for his operas (case in point, Madama Butterfly with Japanese and American characters all singing in Italian).

As an Italian, it's always nice for me to see Cinema Snob videos about Italian flicks with parts of actual Italian dialogue/singing! Sure, some of my compatriots may feel stingy for that Lucio Dalla joke (part of it because the singer died a mere 3 years ago; his fans' pain can still feel kinda fresh for someone), but nice video anyways!

I enjoy the dubbed version of this film but there is a fansubbed version that is much better if you can find it. I don't think an English version La Feldmarescialla exists but it's on vimeo and I enjoyed it even though I don't speak Italian. She doesn't actually play a Nazi in that film. She's helping an American soldier escape Nazi occupied Italy and at one point in the film they disguise themselves in German uniforms. The film pokes fun at Nazis in the same way as Hogan's Heroes.
