I was nicknamed LuLu by my parents, most likely from this song. They both would sing to me, "Little LuLu, I love you, Lu, just the same." My father died young, but my mother continued singing it to me as a show of affection up until she passed away at age 83.

Ahhh. This takes me back. Remember her skipping school to go fishing and when she was abusing her instrument and slacking on studying. Learned a good lesson in both situations lol.

I remembered the lyrics from childhood & sang them to all of my grandkids & sometimes I'd substitute their name in place of Lulu's name. They'd say, "Sing the Lulu song! Sing the Lulu song." They loved it. I have no idea why or how I remembered those lyrics all these years! Came to You Tube so I could check to see if I'd remembered them correctly & I did!

Why? Why does everyone lose their shit over that? The Zulu were literally wild. You people need to grow up.

I remember this used to come on a cartoon variety show that would air in the mornings before school on our local television station. There would be a Lulu cartoon, and usually a Merry Melodies short (I think they were the ones with follow the bouncing ball) - thank you for posting this. You took me to a better place and time if only for 42 seconds.

The quality of the song (that mid 1900s technology) coupled with the range of voices is something that today's cartoons will never have.

Just pure freaking magic! This short song or acapella is just phenomenal. Unforgettable activity!

Little Lulu and Akazukin Cha cha was the best days ever following Dexter , Cow and Chicken , Johnny Bravo and so on.

The opening lyric says she has freckles on her skin. Yet at no point in either the original comics or any TV series reiteration was Little Lulu depicted with as little as one single freckle.

Rafael Rabinovich "wild as any zulu" i do not understand why we are being generalised as being wild. Wild to my understanding is someone that is undisciplined, uncivilised, uneducated and even uncultured. So to my understanding little kids were being taught that we are all those things. Which frankly we are none of those things and i do not understand how this theme song was left to continue playing. Given that it continued it seems to me as if this theme song was used as propaganda to give children the general idea that zulus are uneducated individuals. I frankly would not be surprised if it was a trick to skewer white supremacy as we are black south africans and well many black people are said to be descendants of Africa.

Remember that this was made in the 40s-50s. It was purely satirical at the time. The children wouldn't even know what a Zulu is unless their parents told them.

Dude, "wild as any Zulu" is the only lyric I was talking about, because I can absolutely see that as a problem modern audiences would have with that. And if you think American animation is ruined when there are some awesome shows in recent years like Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall, Regular Show, Bojack Horseman, and countless others, then you just want a reason to be angry (at leftists apparently).

Why can’t this generation be more artistic? I don’t see any good cartoons anymore.This intro sounds simplistic and just an old fashioned theme song for most people but I wanna remind you that the sound engineering back in the 30s wasn’t that sophisticated,so you had to do anything by one or two takes,also the lyrics are pretty decent

Very much so, though I didn't realize it until I was older & READ the lyrics. I thought they were saying "though you're wild as any Zoo-lu" as in a zoo with wild animals that are kept in cages because they can't be tamed. But that was my innocent child mind. When the new Little Lulu show came out in the 90s, the lyrics were changed to "Though you're wild, you know it's true-Lu & you're very hard to tame". I think that's a good change while keeping the tempo of the song & the nostalgia.
