    ‘Kelsey hasn’t seen Month’ sounds absolutely fabulous! Also, the first pick is ‘Clueless’?! I watched that movie later in life but I loved it and related to it so much. Also because we had an Hindi version of it (‘Aisha’ is also adapted from ‘Emma’ too) which I saw before. It’s still aesthetically relevant and very Zoomer in my opinion.

    "How did they get that much weed into Canada?" Guys, weed is federally legal here (thank God!) - anywhere in Canada, if you are 19+, you can go to a weed store (or some grocery stores!) and pick up whatever your heart desires. I love you you guys but it always blows my MIND how little Americans know about Canada, as we generally grow up with pretty good background knowledge about the states... anytime I go to America on vacation I get asked the dumbest shit lol

    Ok listen, a LOT of stuff is filmed in Canada that is supposed to be NYC or literally any other fucking place in the USA. Like so much shit gets filmed in Canada instead because it's cheaper, especially TV shows and Hallmark type movies. Speaking as someone who lives in the greater Toronto area. So they could have kept this as is and edited out anything mentioning Canada and pretended it was NYC. Guaranteed that has been done thousands of times. But the fact it HAD to be canonically in Canada because it was sponsored by Air Canada, the worst fucking airline... PEAK. I'm gonna watch this now lmao. ...Also are you guys actually unaware of the fact weed is legal in Canada?

    @korndiddy I see this movie in a very different light. This is pure satire! It isn't as blatant as anything by Mel Brooks or starring Leslie Nielson, but it absolutely is! Great care was used to showcase the clichés that are rampant in film. • The overused and constantly "updated" Romeo and Juliet theme. • The continuous Hallmark depiction of Girl Returning Home and Finding Love. • The very real idea that Toronto strives to be NYC. • The idea that anyone with a medium skin tone can be cast as Italian, Greek, Latino, Arabic, Native American, Indian...taken to the point of casting a Southeast Asian as an Italian because, hey! the skin color is right... • The use of stereotypical names...Luigi wasn't lazy, it was planned. • The overused airport chase, which included another bow to movie racism when he mistakes an East Asian woman is his target. • The sexual abuse ignored by the crowd...but went in deep by having a male be the abused. I know there's more, but I hope you get my point. Watch it again...

    I'd like to state for the record that Italians have not always been considered "White." I do not know enough about Canadian history, but in America Italians struggled for rights for many years. And of course add to that the colorism of Northern vs. Southern Italians. I know this movie is entirely absurd, but y'all seem rather blasé about it.

  • @ambriaashley3383

    @ambriaashley3383

    Then the US started getting more Asian immigrants, and when Black people were pushing for more civil rights, Italians were then gathered into the “white” category simply so their numbers could equal that of the “new, scary” minorities. So socially they were always technically white, but they weren’t considered legally white in America until what, the 1930s? And they’ll never be seen as less than white again, which is good for them

    I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was confused when the movie was set in Canada, but they talked like they're from New York. That really irked me.

    You do realize Canada has a long racist history. Between the hundreds of bodies of native children that were buried and discovered recently and the clear issues with the current MAID adjustments ? Please get off your high horse and dont make jokes about children being murdered.

    Well, it is a comedy podcast. And comedy is subjective. I thought the jokes were pretty tame. As they say in Canada, “sorry”

    lol I thought most cities had a "little Italy". We have one in Ottawa, Canada. I'm pretty sure there's one in Montreal too.
