    I used a heat gun to remove the golden foil because I absolutely love it and wanted to reattach it, then I took the staples out. I made a 2” spine. I haven’t put my signatures in yet because it’s my first little golden book junk journal that I started creating. And I’m not folding my pages over because I personally don’t care for that look. I figure it will eventually make the pages start to tear. I love the books that you bought!! ♥️ I found a bunch of them at the “friends of the library” book sale, and I just scored some at my local thrift store. 😁

    Hi possum patty. I was just watching your video. Great ideas. Did you know that if you take a heat gun and heat the gold spine it will peel right off. Then you can use it inside your book or wherever you want. The gold spine is a key piece to a little golden book and I hate to waste it. 🥰

    I am so glad I stumbled onto this tutorial. I just ordered my 1st Grandchild a 9 month old baby girl a book off of Amozon too. I was unsure of what the title meant. I thought you were not going to for example make pockets and was intrigued. Besides saving the pages what else youve done that really bugged me on certain booksbwas when they cut the whole Golden strip off in the end the beginning letter of a word would either be cut off completely, or under the fabric. This is a wonderful idea. I know someone who makes these and I am going to tell her to watch this. I am making my Grandaughter, Alaina one for her 1st birthday in August I am excited and now won't have to chop through words or any images. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful evening and stay safe !

I don't know the thickness of your cereal box, but the ones I've had may have been a little too thin for me. • @JustJournalingwithPossumPatty

    @JustJournalingwithPossumPatty

    3 жыл бұрын

    Howdy, Heidi! Do you mean adding the bands like a travel notebook? As long as you don't take off that piece of the cover along the edge where the score mark is, I don't think that it matters how the signatures are bound. It's more about the size of the cover and I've seen crafters rip that part off so that then the cover was smaller than the pages. They then folded the pages so that they fit it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated. Blessings & Bubbles...oooOOO

    When you say chipboard, would that be cardboard in the UK? We use chipboard to build shelves and kitchen cupboard carcasses so clearly that is not what you're using here! What weight (gsm) of cardboard is best? Thanks.

  • @JustJournalingwithPossumPatty

    @JustJournalingwithPossumPatty

    2 жыл бұрын

    Howdy, Carol! Ah... I know what you mean... I think we call that particle board. I call any heavy cardboard "chipboard". I've made covers from all weight cardboard... from very light to very heavy. It's all a matter of preference. Some like the covers more flexible... some like them stronger. Covers can be anything really. But in the Little Golden Book reinforce strips and spines it's good to find something around the same weight as the original cover if you can. Thanks for the question.
