Available Now: mercury-studios.lnk.to/Little...

Filmed at the Grugahalle in Essen in 1977, just a few days before the recording of their legendary live album "Waiting For Columbus", this DVD captures the classic seventies Little Feat line-up led by the late Lowell George at the very peak of their powers. Also featured as a bonus is almost 30 minutes of never before seen alternative rehearsal versions including material that didn't make it into the final show.

Little Feat is one of my top 5 bands of All Time...But they ARE NOT SOUTHERN ROCK. Same as CCR, they are California Pure. Lowell's first big jobs were with Zappa. Later, they hung out in NOLA with Toussaint, Bonnie Raitt and Robert Palmer. Lowell did too much "China White" there, like Dr, John and Johnny Winter. But they are not from Dixie. Know your History!!!

Saw them three times here. The first time was with the original band at UC Santa Barbara (1974?) when they opened for UFO and Fleetwood Mac. The 2nd and 3rd times was at the Concord Pavilion in the 80s with the newer (at the time) members from Pure Prairie League. For the Concord concerts they headlined the 2nd show with Jeff Healey opening for them, where Healey joined them for the encore. Was amazing - he was killing it but the band couldn't reel him back in because, well ... he was blind. Some of the most amazing 20 minutes of jamming I've ever witnessed. The 3rd show they opened for the Allman Brothers. Yeah ... *that* was a f***ing amazing show.

This set from 1977 was my first full encounter with Little Feat. They simply floored me, and I was shocked and devastated when Lowell passed not even a full two years afterwards. Saw them live with Craig Fuller in about 1989, the year after my dad died, and they sort of chased away some of the darkest clouds... So a big thank you to the band, and "rest in power" to Lowell, Richie & Paul, to the team at Rockpalast, and of course to Mercury for putting this up 😄😄😄

Lowell and I had an acoustic jam at Topanga Canyon Days in the late 70's. Then that night when his band (not Little Feat) played I got to sit in for a couple tunes. Was great fun. Lowell was the consumate performer.

Never got the recognition they deserved!! One of my top ten bands of all time. I always thought of them as A Southern rock/ New Orleans Jazz sound! What a great combination of sound and music styles! George's Voice is one of the best I've ever heard. Could sing a Lullaby then turn around and sing the funkiest blues rock sound ever recorded. Way underrated by the mainstream Vaginas, but fans like us know what real music is!

I never got to see Lowell George, but I've seen Little Feat a bunch of times. Some highlights were Little Feat completely blowing the Grateful Dead out of the water in Giants Stadium, and a night with the Allman Bros. and the Bros. didn't show, and we were treated to a glorious 3 hour Little Feat show. I love this band. I wish I could thank them for all the music and good times, but alas, so many of them are gone now...

Guess that guitar player sure could play. He’s almost 30 now. We still talk about it and we’re still going to concerts together. Great band of amazing musicians. Sorely missed.

Always heard Bonnie Raitt talk about Lowell George, I always loved digging up gems like Danny Gatton, Flying Burrito Brothers, I go all over. But only intill today I first listen to Lowell playing slide. I am 56. I remember hearing about Little Feat, but was fed other southern bluesy, jazzy, funky, music. Allman Brothers were great but with Little Feat each instrument stands out and is unique. You got to try listening and I don't regret never seeing this and all we have is the present so enjoy.
