Little Armenia in Los Angeles is a Operatic Feast - MOFAD

Ойын-сауық

More Armenians now live outside Armenia, in cities around the world, than in it. This is the result of thousands of years of hardship: wars, revolutions, and genocide that have forced Armenians to disperse again and again as refugees. Armenian food culture reflects this dispersal, pulling from other traditions to produce a varied cuisine that changes from one community to another. But in L.A., which has the second largest Armenian population in the world, many different generations of Armenians meet, bringing together the disparate cooking styles that millenia of unrest have brought about.

Wayne Harris. "Golden fork" in N.Hollywood is the real Armenian food, not the Lebanese mixture, like in carousel! That's more Arabic then Armenian food! Try that restaurant. Everything made on real wood coal, not gas! Kabob doesn't taste good on gas, wooden coal. But Glendale is a Nazi town and regulations are not allowing to make a real fire for the kabob. Go to "golden fork" it is on Oxnard street!

I told my daughter who lives on LA, if some day I move to LA, I would love to get my house on Armenian area. I had a restaurant on Toronto, for many years and I was dealing with many different people from different countries, the Armenian people were the most easy going and loving people to deal with. Lebanese Armenian I can speak anecdotally too. As an atheist millenial, I happen to have 8 of my 10 closest Armenian friends self-identify as skeptics (i.e., either agnostic or atheist) while only two are passive believers of some higher power. To branch out of my cosmopolitan Los Angeles bubble, my girlfriend moved here from Yerevan only two years ago, and she and her friends are all atheist as well. The times are changing, my compatriot; we are critical thinkers who place credibility on evidence while questioning blind traditions that are grounded on faith.

Can you ever distinguish between them? They named Shawarma and Shish Kebab. Both are Turkish food. Shawarma is wrong pronunciation of the Turkish word "çevirme" which means "turning" (intransitiv). Manti is definitely not Armenian food.
