Damn that book seems to be more rare than some of these plants. Would be nice to see a reprint one day. Also thanks for all your videos about these and succulents in general, you got me really hooked.

It costs a fortune now. Cactus Co in Italy may have it, but the web site is in Italian. Might have to sell your plants to buy the book by the look of the prices.....

@@johnnyAGardening Pretty hefty pricing indeed. Seems like only 2000 copies in english and another 1000 in italian where printed. I´ll keep an eye open, think i don´t need two kidneys anyway.

Hello, thanks for a great content. I'm really in love with lithops, have several of them at home. What are the ways to enhance the color of this plants? What type of fertilizer is best for them?

great tour of a really amazing collection! if I can make a suggestion for future videos with a guest regarding audio- with the volume adjusted for your voice it was difficult to hear James at parts and with the volume adjusted for him, yours would boom in my headphones. maybe putting a mic on the guest would help normalize volume. anyway, I am really enjoying these videos, keep them coming.

Hello Ken, we usually do use two Mics, however that video was an off the cuff piece after looking at other plants, and James had taken his mic off. Looked at the video later and thought it was worth publishing even though the sound was VERY up and down. We will try to ensure that it does not occur in the future.

How old are the lithops? You have a lot, I live in Pennsylvania-eastern part. In summer how often should I water? I keep them inside with A/C. Have had for 3 weeks, new at this. Never knew sooo many different types. Love your video

Question - If lithops matched themselves in color to the stones, will my lithops change their appearance over time to match the topping I put on ie yellow or grit??

  • @johnnyAGardening

If you were around long enough, maybe they would adapt to the environment, It probably more of a matter that some colours survive better than others, and this depends on climate as well as animals and birds that may eat them. Therefore certain colours survive and the colours intensify with pollination. So some lithops are hidden amongst rocks of a certain colour and therefore survive more readily.

@@johnnyAGardening Yes, evolution does take time for everything, and survival of the fittest used to be the thing, before medical interaction and selective breeding. Thank you for replying, I wish I lived near your nursery but I'd spend too much. I love your videos. Thanks.

@@perfum999 But maybe its the Lithops that can hide and not get eaten that survive, so survival of the sneakiest....???

Nice to see some new lithops. Can't wait for them to become available to buy 🤣 also when is the right time to water lithops. I've been told so many different times. Some have said a couple of tables spoons a fortnight, winter time only or twice a year may and November. I'm in Campbelltown nsw.
