Lana was born and raised in New York. She spent awhile in Spain when she was young, and has lived all over. She lived in London for awhile too while she made and released born to die. She’s also said that she stayed in Alabama for awhile too. And then now obviously California.
Yasss finally one of my favorite Lana albums! 🩵💙
So blue bannisters are about the broken promise of lover. She waited and had expectations that this man will come and help her out when the season change. He is gunna take care of ahit around the house for her. But never did. But she got her supportive friends that came thru and help her to get her shit done. She aint gotta wait for no man even tho thats what she wanted. But she got people to support her when shit doesnt goes the way she desires. But the performance of the song is more about the emotions involved in failing long distance relationship
Omg if you lie down with me is my favorite 😭😭

@@NiaPhantom basically the first time I heard it was in a TikTok of a girl using it as her first dance at her wedding and i thought it was so sweet bc the lyrics were “dance me all around the room spin me like a ballerina super high” and Lanas voice is just gorgeous and then I listened to it a lot and eventually I loved it. I admit my first listen blue banisters was a majority skip album but it grew on me big time after I kept listening.

BLUE BANISTERS: A banister is something to hold on to so you dont fall, it's for safety. The colour blue is usually represented as sadness. A blue banister can represent a safe but sometimes sad part of life, like her fame or criticism. But then it is safe because she has us and her friends that love her. I think the part where she says her sisters now paint her banisters *green* and *grey* when it turns to may is a very important detail. in the bridge she sings “summer comes, winter goes, spring i skip, god knows”. I don’t think that these colours are random. I think green represents the summer and grey represents the winter, and blue represents springtime - the time she was with her man. her sisters paint over her blue banisters with green and grey to help her forget the spring/may of her life where she was with this man. spring escapes her because she is trying to forget him and her sisters are helping her to do so by painting over the symbolic blue with greens and greys that instead. Blue green and gray are also colors of bruises and the song may signify healing.
I am soooo excited for you to get to the next one. You need to listen to the Alternate version of Thunder. it is so much more soulful than the album version, I don't know why they didn't keep it
45:12 WildFlower Wildfire Wildflower Wildfire: Lana is spilling her backstory and her deepest emotional self with us. This song is insanely vulnerable for a woman in her position to share. To see how many people can relate to her song writing and experience -- I hope she is able to feel appreciated past all the B.S people throw at her constantly. \-First verse, she is addressing fans and critics alike. She is alluding to her intentions. That she can promise, is that she means well -- her actions/words come from a place of nurture and care. "I nourish you hazily" - it can be tiring for her to come from a place of kindness all the time, she also can feel misunderstood for reasons she later mentions in this song (I relate this to her keeping quiet about the backlash she had gotten for so much of her career and, as we all know, especially in recent events) \-Pre-chorus: "running on stardust" - Is she referring to a persona, the high of fame that she wanted so dearly? The lyrics here speak to that. She has been able to separate her true emotions and life with the persona of the artist, Lana Del Rey. She could have been so blinded by the cruelty of fame because of her sweet natured intentions as a person and artist. "I wouldn't know what hot fire was...I'm better with you, it's strange but true" - She had become numb to this fire, whether fire is the emotions one can feel when being constantly criticized, the fire being how she feels without her medications (I only think this because of the later mentioned comfortably numb and lithium and with numbness of pain can bring numbness of joy). She feels it is worth feeling all the emotions of life the rawness, the realness of life-- at it's best and at it's worst. She could also be referring to the fire of her upbringing - she wishes it could have been different, but at the same time, she has come to accept and love herself and her life now. She has grown to be proud of who is she despite the fire in her past. “star drip IVs” - later she shares her deeper dependence on stardust (being any of the metaphors I mentioned above) \-Chorus: This entire chorus is oof overwhelming. To feel and experience this fire (in ways I related above), and not have it become toxic. To have emotion and empathy, without the deep dread that can coexist. To not overwhelm yourself in order to feel alive (I relate this to toxic relationships) This can also relate to her feelings towards fame; to allow herself to be in this light without allowing the criticism to get to her and lash out or fall down a path so many have before (I think of all the women especially who have essentially crashed and burned due to the nature of the industry). She can also be referring to the fear of turning out to be anything like her mother. \-Second verse: I feel like this one is a bit more self explanatory. It cuts right to the point (we’re really all out here living with mommy issues, huh - ugh too relatable) this is such a personal verse, it’s so profound to me that an artist like Lana, who gets so much shit on every single thing on a regular basis, would be so open and vulnerable. I adore her for this and am especially grateful for her poetry here.

52:45 Cherry Blossom In "Cherry Blossom," Lana Del Rey crafts a poignant narrative laden with symbolism and personal introspection. The song juxtaposes the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms with the eternal symbolism of a sycamore tree, suggesting a meditation on the impermanence of life and the enduring impact of memory. The lyrics, particularly the reference to a "little ghost," evoke themes of loss and remembrance. The narrator, likely Lana Del Rey herself, muses on the fleeting nature of relationships and the persistence of memory. The mention of a "little ghost" swinging on a sycamore tree hints at a connection between the narrator and the subject of the song, possibly a deceased child or the narrator's own inner child. The name "Angelina" introduced in the final verse carries symbolic weight, suggesting innocence or a departed spirit. The song's thematic depth is further enriched by its placement within the album's broader narrative. Lana Del Rey explores complex relationships with motherhood and family, drawing from personal experiences to imbue the lyrics with emotional resonance. The aversion to spring hinted at in "Blue Banisters" adds another layer of interpretation, potentially tied to Mother's Day or deeper emotional associations with the season.
