The Mirabel villain song is such a perfect characterization. The movie itself makes a point that Mirabel would make or break the family, so the thought process here that she resented all the mistreatment and turned on her family it's a perfectly plausible and so well constructed "what if" narrative. And don't even get me started on the quality of the music itself.

Maleficent changed too much and was a failure as a "the other side" thing because they changed her entire relationship with Aurora. That's not a flipped version, it's an AU. I want to see the actual "Sleeping Beauty" movie flipped without changing the ending or the relationships between the characters.

That though doesn't come from it being based on the sleeping beauty, but generally as a story of a traumatized woman growing to believe in love once again not through romance but through motherhood. Also i just absolutely love fae.

@@cupcakejack7375 I think that that kind of story would be beautiful, but they should have made it its own thing, not repurposed Maleficent, who was rightfully pissed off that she was the only one in the Kingdom not invited to the Princess's birth celebration. Fairies can be very vindictive when slighted and, oh, they not only slighted her but allowed another fairy to downright state that it was a deliberate slight, not an accident. She was willing to let it slide if it was an accident! I just can't enjoy it as much as I would otherwise because it's such a failure of an "the other side" movie, just like "Twisted". They had to change too much for Maleficent to be a sympathetic villain. On the other hand, Tinkerbell was essentially a villain already and when you add to that the lore of the Tinkerbell movies and her friends, Wendy doesn't stand a chance, so that's why I love the Tinkerbell song. Since we're talking about fae. XD

In case you don't know there are actually stories that accompany these villain songs that explain why each villain did what she did: Moana: The story is the same as the original up until her grandmother dies. Her father decides to burn the boats that Moana found and decides to imprison her for her "safety". Moana begs her father to let her go and find a solution to the darkness that is spreading but her fathers fear of the unknown is just too great and he keeps her there for six long months while her people die from the darkness. Moana starts to become resentful and bitter and eventually escapes. So, we follow the plot of the film only with a much darker Moana who rather than returning the heart of Te Fiti instead decided at the last possible moment to go back and mock her father about his dying island and people while having the cure in her hands but refusing to use it sort of like how her father did in those six months he had her imprisoned. Anna: The story is the same as the original up until Anna sees Elsa again in the ice palace and Elsa like in the original accidently hits her with her ice powers. The twist is, instead of just slowly freezing her the ice powers slowly corrupt her and turn her as cold and emotionless as the ice itself and even the trolls aren't able to help her saying that there is no cure for this kind of magic. So, Anna and Kristoff go to Hans who of course betrays Anna however this time Anna is not so naïve and realised by now that Hans never cared about her. She (somehow) has also gained ice powers similar to Elsas own. So, she freezes Hans, Kristoff, Arendele and now moves onto Elsa. Megara: The story stays the same up until Meg sacrifices herself for Hercules. In this version he was too bitter and blinded by her previous "betrayel" and rather than saving her he instead lets her die. She floated in the river styx until Charon (the fated ferryman of the river) pulls her out. He made a deal with Meg he would tell her how to defeat gods and take their powers if Meg promised to give him a seat rulling the world alongside her and she agreed. We now see Meg in the video as she tries to recruit people for her army. Mirabel: Her story is pretty similar excepet here she allowed her hatred and disdian for her family to grow and turn her bitter. She decided to hold up a mirror to her family afterwards deciding to destroy what she believed to be the cause of their problems that being the miracle.

Lydia’s songs are gorgeous. Her villain songs perfectly depict if these characters turned evil because they had enough. Also I love how a lot of these animatics are from the amazing MaepleTea. Her animatics are truly stunning! I hope we get more reactions to her animatics because she deserves it.

OMG LYDIA FINALLY!!! i've been waiting for this for so long i'm so happy you mentioned that they don't really sound like disney songs anymore, but there is actually reason! when she first began the series, she kept the songs closer to how they sounded in canon, but as time went on she branched out more and more to really get creative with things! so her more recent songs in the series are very different to the canon version

just so you know, She puts the story of the AUs in the description for context of what's going on and why

The alternative villain story would be in the description most of the time, so be sure to check the description in her videos

Book series called twisted tales and they change something in the story and there’s a new ending. Ula wins Ariel is her voice and king is dead. Mom was the enchantress. Anna and Elsa never knew they were sisters. There are so many and it’s such a good series.

6:29 so not Disney, but I did something like that when I was in high school. We did what's called 24 hour theater were you have only 24 hours to write and perform a play. My junior year, we decided to do fairytales, but from both sides of the story. So you got see the original version, but you also got to see the villains perspective which portrayed the original protagonist as the villain/ antagonist. I played Snow White and one of the stepsisters in Cinderella

This is basically just 23 minutes of you fanboying over the 'new' KZread sensation that is Lydia the Bard and I'm totally here for it. She's just amazing. The lyrics, the beat, her voice. EVERYTHING. My personal favorite of her songs is Tale As Old As Time from Beauty and the Beast

The first song of Lydia's I listened to was Snow White's because of Annapantsu. I just adored everything this woman created. I recommend Caleb Hayles and MilkyMelodies. Both do some amazing covers that I'd love to see your reaction. Lydia also sounds so different with each villain song. Sometimes I forget she is the same singer. Also, the description of each video gives the backstory or a least a more detailed version of the path our leading lady went down. P.S. You're gonna LOVE Mulan's villain version of 'I'll Make A Man Outta You.'

Her songs are masterful, I find myself listening to a lot of them on Spotify - a lot of them live in my head rent-free. My top five is Anna, Anastasia, Cinderella, Mirabel and Tinkerbell's

Lydia is incredible with her songs (i also really love Milky melodies songs as well) but my favorites of Lydias is the Frozen villain song and (any) of the encanto ones. I recommend listening to Tinkerbells villain song "fly litrle wendy bird" because it's my all time favorite of her songs by far!

Don't you just LOVE how _both_ Moana's and Mirabel's villainy is just... Them deciding NOT to help? Just telling them "I could have saved you. I _WOULD_ have done ANYTHING to save you, and what did you do? You hurt me, you abandoned me, you made it clear that no matter what I did you would NEVER accept me... So now, you get NOTHING from me."

Disney literally made a series of books called twisted fairytales where the original plot has been shifted due to a small change in the story such as: Snow White but the prince eats the apple, Anna and Elsa never met each other, Aladdin never got the lamp, etc. Lydia did a great job portraying what would happen of the main character has snapped and became a villain out of revenge for mistreatment, desperation, or want.

You should watch tangled and wishes' villian songs next. Thoses are awsome. The Tangled one is what got me watching her.

Anna being sadistic here is part of the narrative - this is an alternate take on what it means to have “a frozen heart”. In this version instead of freezing to death, she lost all compassion and love, and gained ice powers as a curse (as suggested was possible by the trolls at the beginning of the movie when they asked if Elsa had been born with her powers or cursed).

I don't know if you realize during the Anna villain song her hair is becoming more and more white throughout the song because she was getting more and more corrupt😢😢

So she wrote the stories of how they got to this point in the descriptions

I first discovered her from Anna's First Time In Forever Villain Song and since not only do I want Disney to hire her but love for a series based around this. Either a What If or a scripted style animated series where the unexpected Disney Princesses are summoned/Dragged from their worlds by an Alternative Dying Yen Sid who in desperation to fight the dark counterparts summoned the counterparts we know. The Villainous Princess (some queens or fairies included) who after bring ruination to their worlds/kingdoms are now cracking open the barriers and threaten the universe we know. The Disney Princess meeting each other unexpectedly from different times and cultures are at first an uncoordinated, untrained, and ill experience for the dangerous dark tasks and twisted worlds they find themselves in but later as a team get stronger and gain new talents/skills along the way.

lydia gives background of her story in the description too... so it makes a bit more sense behind the princesses' villian arc.

I'd highly suggest you watch The Villains Lair. Basically, it's a series where the Disney villains work together trying to get their happily ever afters. The people do cosplay of the villains and sing songs they made up. Almost every episode has a song. It's awesome!

a villain traveling long distances alone like that is so terrifying because it feels like they're unstoppable, they're willing to do this much and they're perfectly capable of it too, so what could *you* possibly do to stop them? that's why it's terrifying, because it gives you that feeling of "I can't stop them, they're too determined"
