Listen To This LONE Locomotive! Fight The Hill With A Loaded Rock Train!! Loud & Sanding The Rails!
Ойын-сауық
Locomotive Sounds Like A Barge Going Up River With A Heavy Load! Have You Ever Heard This Awesome Sound Of Machinery Versus Gravity?! Best Epic Notch 8 Ever! Includes Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania With Norfolk Southern Trains With Double Helpers & Amtrak On The Hill. Mixed Freight & Big Coal Train With Manned Helpers Followed By Amtrak Coming Out Of Altoona. People ask if I go to Horseshoe Curve so here you go.
First we have a short line railroad with a heavy rock train in southern Ohio. This is The Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET. Normally they have a couple of locomotives taking the rock train up the hill but this was a shorter train. It was still a challenge for the GP15-1 which only has 4 axles. This is one of the best sounds in railroading. What is better?
I chased the rock train to get both sides of it. We see it at two different railroad crossings in Mt Orab and Williamsburg, Ohio.
The video doesn't end there. Lately a lot of ppl have asked if I go to Horseshoe Curve in Pennsylvania to film the Norfolk Southern Pittsburgh Line. I do just about every June. I had this footage that I never posted so check it out. We have two long NS trains and both of them have a pair of locomotives on the rear. These are manned helper units.
And for the Amtrak lover we have an Amtrak passenger train that just left Altoona on its way to Chicago. It is seen going around the curve. I am planning on going back to the curve in August. Pennsylvania has a lot of places on my list.
Filmed Friday, July 5, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

I feel like that sometimes: a LONE Robert Thomas (RT). But, I return to the RobPalace (my apartment) and my dog Rusa jumps for joy too. They truly are our best friends. Have a great day, Señor Jaws. RT sends, envia, Colonia Centro Histórico, Puebla, México. (that 'baby´´sound you heard -- often comes from a young Bigfoot. They get tangled up in the brush. Be careful, Sr. Jaws.)
Horseshoe Curve! I love that Geep in the cage there. I still run an old GP-9 at my work. Unloading rock cars.
I love when you take Chessie with you as you can see she’s as excited as you are to watch the trains in live action.
Live action! 😊❤🐕👍

There's always so much screeching around Horseshoe Curve, but it's cool. Axles are rigid, so around a curve, both wheels are always sliding as they're rolling. The inside wheel of the curve is sliding like it's spinning. The outside wheel is sliding like it's skidding. Very slight, but that's what's happening, therefore the screech.
You know, you can really tell how hard the rock trains are pulling Brian.
I love this railroad. That’s a nice hardworking GP15.
Great Catch
The panoramic view of the trains rounding the horseshoe is really cooolll !!
Thar was a fabulous mixed freight going around the horseshoe. I loved the first green box car on this train, JT! 😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤
Great to hear a good old EMD working hard, and great to hear those good old crossing signal's with a real bell too! Great catches Jawtooth!👍
Because of your videos off the bridge on the west side of the mountain, I went last August and was not disappointed. Thank you because you made my day.

If only I could have video recorded trains with my dog Ricky..Chessie is so cool. I love ALCO/MLW engines but a EMD under load is something . the NS with the manned DPU's was nothing but wow.
I love CCET. They were working hard on the hill. Long mixed manifest NS in PA had two mint green boxcars and some refrigerated cars and 5 locomotives. Love the NS coal train also a long one with three engines in front and two in the rear. Bonus: a passenger train. Then fireworks!
That was a pretty epic display of pure muscle from that lone CCET GP15-1, sweet. Cool shots from Horseshoe curve to JT.👍🏼
That Chessie is one good-looking doggy! Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
10 cars for a GP15 is impressive! She already gets big plus' because shes an EMD and notched at 8 too, and a P3 orchestra singing for all to hear.
Great Nathan P3 horn on that first locomotive.
The AmTrak was a bonus. It was even shorter than the CE rock train. Thanks, JT! 😃😃😃❤❤❤
I'm convinced that the road made a good purchasing decision with that pair of GP15-1s. Wonderful sound!

Train action from Ohio with the awesome locomotive pulling a fully loaded rock train, the Horseshoe Curve in Pennsylvania watching Norfolk Southern and Amtrak, great footage of the 4th of July fireworks, the amazing live action pets and the awesome slide show as always Thank You Jaw Tooth. 🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲
JT thank you for the video. Enjoyed hearing that engine pulling the rock train up hill, good thing it was dry track. All I can say about the trains on the Horseshoe curve is wow, glad you posted that. Looks like your family enjoyed some wonderful fireworks on the Independence Day holiday. Always like seeing the pets, we have 3 spoiled dogs and outside mouse patrol cats. That poor engine that was smoking soooo bad must have lost it’s turbo, it was a shame that it had to operate that way “ on fire baby” hope it got the repairs it needed after that run. Thanks Brian, Bert from Iowa!
That EOT is working just fine. You could hear it. They don't flash during the day.
Brian! You are Mr. Style!! 3 Shirts for a single vid!! Rock on bro!!
Wow I thought that GP15 was going to stall out at the crossing
Thank you very much for the spectacular video JT! I surely do appreciate it. Great trsins and great pets. You are the master railfan! I'll chat tomorrow, because it's time for bed now. Thanks again! 😃😃😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤❤❤
Chessie !!! Loves a car ride !!
That horn's got that classic Southern Pacific "moan" to it! Something I've never seen where I live is a one engine train.
Brilliant JT thanks on with the show Sir greetings from Scotland 😊

A beautifully long coal train, JT! I couldn't get a count, but I know it was a good one. 😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤

Those GP15s have a unique sound when running wide open and you can hear them from some distance. Just about the max in terms of challenge and fortunately it made it up the hill and made it to the customer. Then Horseshoe curve provides quite the opposite with huge amounts of tonnage and power anyway even toss in fireworks nights to close it our. A fine start to our day

Good morning Steve!
Super cool video Jawtooth. 👍❤️
Yes, awesome live action.
That "little" CCET train redeemed itself @4:30, chuggin' hard EMD-style past that iconic N&W signal, sandwiched in between the dense trees. Classic stuff only local railroading can provide. Ghosts in that signal tower were certain to give Geep 1657 a "high-five" for pulling that hill alone!! "Second Generation" power lives on... Over there at Horseshoe Curve, many notable cars on that manifest train you didn't note, e.g. two Reading & Northern covered hoppers @12:45 and @12:51, two ex-Amtrak express boxcars @12:18 and @12:23, plus a hi-cube SP "Cushion Car" @12:49. Interesting End-of-Train DPU's...a pair of original EMD SD's... 👍👍
I've never been to Horseshoe Curve but it's on my bucket list as is Deshler, Ohio. Both places have a lot of railroad action.
Brian the sound of 1657 was awesome thank you
Great variety of trains. Thanks for the outstanding footage. Love seeing Horseshoe Curve
Wow, Another nice spot, Got to go over there soon on Hols. Great Sounding Loco. You should be an Ambassador for Local Tourism as a Great Video...
What a team jawtooth and chessie can't be beat
If I lived in that house next to the tracks, I would have those pine trees put down in five minutes flat!
Great train videos as always
Love those coal trains. Awesome video
The GP15-1 was working hard pulling the ten loaded rock hopper cars as it worked its way up Williamsburg Hill, Jaw Tooth! The engine did manage to get over Williamsburg Hill though. The two Norfolk Southern freight trains were impressive going around Horseshow Curve with the manned helpers helping them around the curve. The fireworks final was a bonus! (Posted 8 July 2024 at 1220 CDT.)
The old signal needs to be donated to museum. That is obviously Horseshoe Curve in 2018 or earlier with Amtrak not having a baggage car, the signal still up, the 6300s doing helper service, and the funicular operating.
@JawTooth

Is that funicular still broken? Why is broken this long? The last two times I have been there it was out of order. Yes, this Horshoe Curve video is old. I have a lot of old stuff I have never posted. Last year when I was there it was hot and going up those stairs you really feel it by the time you get up there. thanks for watching!
Fantastic video, Jaw Tooth.
Hey jaw tooth awesome trains. Rock train reminds me of little engine. I think I can I think I can. As climbing grade. Glad you got videos of horseshoe curve trains. Wonder if you were seen on virtual railfans camera. Have a great railroad day. 🚂🙋♀️
Hey, another good video, Brian! That geep sounded good under that load. I noticed it was dropping it’s load, and picking it back up again, in a definite rhythm, all the way up the hill. Good shots of horseshoe curve! Just as a FYI and FWIW, I noticed that all the locomotives on the freight and coal trains have been retired, except one. And of course, the helper power. On the freight, the 9267 has been rebuilt into the 4513, what the NS calls an AC44C6M. Basically, rebuilt a dash 9 into an ES44AC. The 8409 and 2587 were retired in 2020. On the coal train, 9257 is now 4564. The 8122 is still on the active roster, as is the helper power, 6322 & 6312. The 2571 was retired in 2020. Again, just a FWIW! Thanks for the video and the pets!
