Props to you, Stu! One of my favourite songs and felt in a state of despair about ever being able to play it. Thank you so much for this video, I’ll be buying the song sheet and have subscribed.

It was amazing and helpful! It would also be great if you could somehow add the chords in a sort of picture in the description or even in the video itself! Love your work!

Thanks. This video was so long it took me a long time to edit the two shots together and I ran out of steam. Normally I do add the chords. There’s a link in the description to a Patreon post. Costs around $10 though you then have access to everything on my site which is vast. So good value and every little bit helps me out.

You never really said what the chords were. I mean you meantioned E and A and maybe C chords but that was it. So are these all the chords? So what are the chords and chord progression for this funky tune? Btw, I'm not a Patreon member so I can't have a music sheet. Thanks my friend!!

Hi Stu. I love this song and Long Train Running but I love the Doobie Brothers playing style, I've gone through your video a few times and I'm getting better, I think its the chunk, I can generally chunk but I'm having a bit of trouble maybe with the speed. Could you tell me what strings you use, they sound very bright, I'm using fourocarbon possibly Worth. Thanks for the inspiration. I'd love Long Train Runnin or any Nial Rogers songs please.

Hiya Joe, The strings in this video are Brown 'Worth' strings - Low G. I'll add those tunes to the list. Great to hear from you.

@@ukemullum at 6:38 when you teach the riff…on the guitar, an inversion of the E-chord is played where the g# sharp is the lowest played note and it is that note that is hammered…As in the recording, there are hammers on both the E and the A chords. I can’t seem to find that same note on the uke. I’ve dropped the song to a whole step to play an F / B, but you’ve got to do a weird little switch back to the F on the last strum. Appreciate your time.

@@mikechun4734 OK I’m playing an A chord 6454 (fret position from the top string) that’s a barred F shape at the fourth fret. I leave the barre where it is and then hammer my F shape (frets 6 and 5) . Hope that helps Mike.

@@ukemullum thank you for your reply…but I was asking about the E-chord and attempting to find a chord shape that enables the hammering of that bass note - similar to what is done in the original recording

Trying to learn this beat is useless from this video for me unless I have music to look at. Way too fast really at slowest setting. It would be so easy if I could see music. I really require visual. I understood as far as 16 beats. Broken down too fast without visual aid or broken down into smaller bits than just a full bar. I am not a patron as this is the first video of yours I have seen. Your videos are geared strictly to patrons or very advanced players who can pick up and hear beats easily.. Too bad for me. I usually I try videos out before subscribing or becoming a patron. Finally got it, but had to write it, took forever to hear the beat rewinding constantly. So much wasted time.

I hear you man. It's my first video as well so I can't just jump to becoming a Patreon member because if all the videos are at this tempo of instruction then perhaps later on in my learning. But so far I'm understanding everything including the chuck and hammer techniques except I need to know all the chords involved and its progression. I can practice the strumming and I think I can master within a month. Fortunately, I HAVE TO learn this particular song for a show so I can't just put this in the back burner I need to learn it ASAP!
