Thank you, appreciate it🙌
Appreciate your videos and they have helped me work on my daughters 2010 328i N51 car many times. Gotta disagree on the performance parts though brother. Not for everyone, and obviously car specific, but my 2014 335i is night and day difference. 300HP and 300TQ stock - 450HP and 500TQ BM3 Race Gas Tuned (ACES IV makes 92 octane 100 octane), catless downpipe, race intercooler, muffler delete. Anyway, for most people you are correct. I tell people if you don't know how to work on cars, or have a fat wallet, don't buy a BMW. (Break My Wallet)

Well there are people out there who enjoy tuning that’s a different category of folks. My view is if you want a faster car get another car😉😁 but i don’t hate on people who do it right, i urge people who don’t know what’s going on at all and have no understanding of those “performance” parts (low quality cheap amazon stuff for 50$) to stay away from doing it. Also boosting power from any car means shortened life of the engine and transmission
Thanks for sharing your thoughts...👍
Agree on all of this, but my UK experience for tyres on my 2008 E90 is Bridgestone Turanza T005 runflats are exceptional in terms of overall performance, grip, wear and stability. I accept some additional noise, but have used these (with replacements) since ownership in 2016 and every time I replace, the competition from budget alternatives just wasn't worth it. Maybe this is why I hadn't noticed some rear differential noise my mechanic advised recently 😕! 130k miles, but hoping a diff oil change will help avoid a full refurb.
seems like a catch can isnt so bad, and curious why a hi-flow cat wouldnt improve mpg/overall engine heat, cheers
BTW Subscribed! Hopefully you can give me a ball park of what temperature those components should be with temp gun pointed on them after a drive several miles down the road.
Very good advice.Over the past 24 years I've owned aZ3, 325xi, 328i sport and now a X3 M40i. By fall I'll be replacing the factory run flats as it came with summer rated tires rather than all season on an AWD vehicle -go figure. I have traditionally just kept a small 12V air compressor in the trunk. My only real gripe, other than coming with run flats, is no dipstick. Do you have a particular motor oil that you use ? I have always used Mann filters.
@Zeiten
Ай бұрын
Thank you, mann filters are oem if you buy an oil filter from dealer you’ll find mann filter inside. I preferred castrol edge have been using it for years in fact that is what’s inside “bmw” oil so follow viscocity specs on your car and you can use castrol edge with necessary approvals (for you - BMW LL-17FE+ ACEA C5, API SP)
Master tech Would you have any experience with a Volvo s70? I came to ask because it functions like a BMW and I have a mystery code issue.
Ok so can't seem to find anyone who has the slightest idea to my question. Maybe you can help with the question. I have a BMW X1 2014. Was curious as to what the temperature will and or should be with a temp gun with the red laser pointed on the oil cooler, HPFP, and right above the turbo manifold mating surface area (bottom of cylinder head above turbo) should be temperature?
Costco is a top tier gas bud.
F run flats and "performance parts " but the oil do it at 3k and thank me later especially on the N55
100 % agree

I’m going away from run flats after watching this. While new front tires are decently priced at around $150 for my 2007 328i the rear ones are at least $300 each so I’ve been getting away with buying used ones on eBay with 9/32 ish thread left. But yeah it doesn’t make sense considering a need for more frequent tire changes and workarounds that you are suggesting. One extra tire swap + run flats vs reg price delta is basically one evaluator trip cost.
Thanks Zeilten. Love your channel. I agree with 1. 5k oil change; 2. Use of OEM parts; 3. Use of high RON fuel; 4. Replacing Run Flat tyres with quality non Run Flat Tyres but don't agree with use of high quality performance aftermarket parts. BMW is well known for using unreliable electric water pump and plastic charge pipes on N55 engine that crack quickly. BMW uses high performance parts in M3, M4 and M5s. If those parts can be substituted in non-M cars I suggest DYI community should use them not so that they can gain extra performance but rather longer reliable life as these cars will not push those parts to the limit that M cars can. FCP Euro uses many quality aftermarket parts eg. controlling arms, Brembo brakes, high performance ignition coils etc due to poor design, limited reliability or performance of many BMW parts. Remember parts used in a $40K BMW 325i is not the same as those deployed in a $80K BMW M3/M4. So I suggest your followers check FCP Euro and other reputable websites for their recommended aftermarket parts for their BMW model. Thanks
us bmw enthusiasts in Europe use Ravenol oil, especially the Ravenol RUP and REP

Good, castrol is standard but liqui molly or motul are great oils too
Hello - I enjoy your content! I have a 2011 328i x drive - and I wanted to know about alignment ? Is there a special way to do an alignment on a BMW - or can I just take my car anywhere to complete an alignment? I have received conflicting opinions on this question - and wanted to know your opinion?
@Zeiten
Ай бұрын
Thank you, no there is nothing special any good shop should be able to do an alignment if they are equipped for it
On oil changes, for my m54 i use liqui moly engine flush every service normally 10,000kms on all my cars. I have a g01 b58. What is your opinion on the engine flushes and is it safe to use on the modern engines
@Zeiten
Ай бұрын
I would do motor flush every 3rd oil change don’t really see any harm in there although modern engines require more lubrication and some motor flush solutions can thin the oil. I remember back in a day proper flush was to drain existing oil, fill up motor flush oil full capacity run the engine at idle for 5 mins and drain that oil in my opinion that’s the best practice
Thank you! Quick question, so I don’t drive my BMW often and therefore 5K miles takes a long time,,, should I change the oil every 6 or 9 months?
@Zeiten

Stick with every 6 months
I need to replace my valve cover since the diaphragm is bad, I don’t want to use a plastic valve cover. I’ve seen some oem aluminum ones on ecu tuning with good reviews would you recommend? It’s a 09 bmw 328i n51

I used your starter replacement video. The only thing that I messed up is you were doing it on the one with the plastic valve cover and I have the magnesium one. I didn’t know there was another hose that connects on the top of the oil pan on mine and was the only problem I ran into. Your videos work well for people like me
@Zeiten
Ай бұрын
@damianspears2469 glad it helped, yes on 325i,330i there is external pcv valve with one hose going to oil pan, when the opportunity comes i’ll make a video on how to replace the pcv system and starter on that engine along with other repairs that differ from 328i since most of them are exactly the same
I totally agree with those 5 things except for Michelin tires... I want Pirelli p zero on my 328😂😂😂 Kidding..lol Mid grade from discount tire for me

Thank you. There are plenty of good tires just not as popularized as big brands😉
Much appreciated, I went back to see what brand valve cover gasket and oil cooler gasket I bought. What do you think about VRSF inlets on the N54?
@Zeiten
Ай бұрын
For those seals there is a secret, get elring fpm-px material very important for longevity. Vrsf inlets - don’t like it, silicone always feels like it’s about to slip out of place. Oem pipes have to be replaced once in 10 years i think it’s better to stick to those

Guten tag! Z man. I just bought a 2011 328i xdrive, 6 speed manual. It has 144,800 miles on it. I did OFHG and MM flange myself. My car is still under warranty surprisingly. Will BMW fix all the leaks and anything that is bad on my car? The car was well maintained on the outside and inside.
@Zeiten
Ай бұрын
Congrats, well yeah if radiator or valve cover gasket is leaking then dealer must fix it under sulev warranty (that’s what you got i assume) but they won’t replace anything that is not broken just because
@mckinleythomas2956

@@Zeitenyeah I checked that area for sulev and I don't have that system.
I have a 2003 e53 X5, the power assist steering wheel the motors are working but the up and down function is only partly working, yes I tried new motors. It is throwing 3 dash lights, the brake light the ABS and the triangle, all of the sensors on the wheels have been checked and they're fine. Someone told me it might be the steering column itself, what do you think?
@Zeiten
Ай бұрын
Don’t guess, scan the car abs/dsc module first there is a clock spring behind steering wheel that can cause the issue but so can any number of things, either get bmw oriented shop/mechanic scan the car or get a decent scanner yourself that will tell a broader story
@branchesofYAH

@@Zeiten I've got a good scanner it's not showing up I've taken it to a BMW mechanic, he's the one that indicated that I might need the whole steering column replaced, but I've read other things that say otherwise so I don't know which way to go. So when the up and down motor in a certain position it just makes noise but if I give it a little assist it goes right up.?

My argument is based on my experience as a technician i personally have seen too many cars with issues that went away after switching from costco gas, mind you i can’t verify when customers say “yes i put 91 gas from costco” so may be they were using 87 but nobody usually lies about what gas station they use. And after a long time observing the common denominator is costco gas either its 87 or 91 i don’t know. Once again that’s my opinion based on my experience
