Barbara McQuade suggests that there may be some “immunity from criminal prosecution” fir the Presidents official act’s and gives the example of a President’s appointment of an ambassador is an official act that could also be a crime if he did it and took a money kickback payment for doing so. I would argue that the example is not one where an official a t should be covered buy presidential immunity because appointing ambassadors is well within the presidents duties - rather its is a criminal act wherein the president used the powers of the presidency to act in a manner that would benefit him privately. It is very much like piercing the lawyer client privilege laws when the privilege is being used in the furtherance of a crime. If a president is taking illegal payoffs from the ambassador he appoints in order the secure that appointment it is an illegal abuse of presidential power and a crime and the non-existent immunity we are suggesting might exist here would be pierced like a ballon and afford the president no defence at all. This theoretical game could be played all year end end in the same place. The constitution does not protect the individual person holding the office of the president from being charged and convicted of crimes but does place on that president the expectation and the duty to ensure the laws and the constitution are upheld. The surest way to do that and to maintain respect for the office of the presidency is the not commit any crimes while in office and to accept personal responsibility and face the the evidence against you should any exist and you are charged. The court and the jury may find that the act was not criminal. Trump looks very much like he knows he’s a criminal and is running dogging weaving and bobbing as fast as he can so that reality will not become an official one.

The question is not whether he has immunity for any of his official acts: the real question is whether the acts that he was indicted for were actually “official“.

It is time for term limitations for Supreme Court Justices to perhaps a 10 year period. This move could provide some assurance of there being no personal opinions or beliefs that are in conflict with the majority of Americans and to avoid conflicts of interest. No one should be on the government payroll for life, not even everyday welfare recipients enjoy that privilege. Our way of life, our Democracy, our rule of law is at stake with a lifetime set up, when the Justices can rule against the majority of the population. When justice for all is at stake Americans need to pay attention.

It seems that powerful people that know better are willing to stand on their heads to rationalize and enable the behavior of a 78 year old toddler with impulse issues. One remedy for the delay that would be just would be revoking his bond (criminal contempt) holding him until trial.

It's imperative that he is quickly convicted , sentenced, and placed in jail for a period of time that is in line with that which each of the 34 counts allow, which amounts to up to 4 years on each count. Then, you can take as much time as you want for the other cases, even though I believe the case in DC could also be completed this year, before any elections.

I'll tell you: the replacing of paid workers with robots is not related to the minimum wage - those employers would do it anyway - and in fact employment is continuing to grow so the chance of those laid off workers getting a new job is better than last year or the Trump years.
