Why is this famous? Because this song is from a very famous and loved anime called Demon Slayer, and she is awesome. She is one of my favorite singers. At the end there, that wasn't really a vowel modification. Monophthongal Japanese vowels aren't cardinal to begin with. The Japanese mid front vowel is actually *lowered* mid. It's just that the mid>high diphthongal vowel can be realized as a mid long vowel.
This LiSA...she knows how to sing! She's a goddess!
I read in another reactor's comments, the distortion is a Japanese genre called Enka or Kobushi
