Yes!! Im glad to see a pro who likes lipless cranks as much as I do. Ive been fishing them regularly for 20 years. Great bait for covering water and Ive caught more fish on that bait than any of them. Only downside is getting snagged, Ive lost so many baits but I just keep cranking.

I have always used a composite rod for crankbaits, rat-l-traps, etc. You tend to lose less fish and are a good overall rod for that type bait. Call the rod "Easy Money".

Lipless and chatterbaits are my 2 favorite

I've caught A LOT of big bass on a lipless crank! It's my go to in the cold months but you absolutely must have enough backbone to clear the hooks when they get in the grass or fallen leaves or else you are going to fight it alllll day and waste half your cast and I honestly can't remember catching a bass on a lipless that had grass on the hooks

I have a local lake I fish early spring along the dam that I catch quite a few 3 to 5 lb bass. All I do is is cast just off the bank and reel just fast enough to not get hung up. It's all riprap so I know it holds heat. The bass seem to like a regular shad color there more than anything.

I was just looking for a good lipless video last weekend. Still learning all these techniques and these videos are so helpful.

I always get hit on the fall of the bait. Love the lipless for sure! I throw it on 10lb-17lb

I just bought a 7’4” St Croix Mojo Bass Glass “Big Cranker” Rod and a Shimano Curado K in a 5:0:1 gear ratio cause I’ve always been told you wanna slower gear ratio or about 21-24” IPT. I didn’t really care for it at first cause I was mostly fishing shallow waters. I felt like it was too slow but when I started throwing the 6-10XD or heavier lipless cranks I was a lot more impressed. Thinking bout grabbing a 6 or 7 gear ratio reel and a good rod to throw chatterbaits and shallow cranks. I’ll just keep the other for the deeper stuff I guess. Y’all got any recommendations?

Can't say I'm a fan of lipless crankbaits... never had confidence in them. I should give them some more time on the deck this fall - good overview on these!

You have to bro. Make bomber cast, let it hit bottom and then RIP it.... then let it fall back to the bottom and reel up the slack and repeat. 99% of the time they'll hit it on the fall and the next time you go to RIP it the rod will just load up. If I'm trying to finesse a little more I'll give small rips with the rod at 12 o'clock but usually I'm sweeping to the side because you don't want to load up when the rod is up over your head and you've got nowhere else to go. Much of the time they'll run straight toward you, so you need a high speed reel to pickup any slack and stay tight on them. Try it bro Good luck
