LionSteel SR-11 Knife Review. And Hard Use RotoBlock Lock Fail test
The new LionSteel SR-11A is the Blade Show knife of the year, and in this review of the knife I test the lock strength for a fail, and put it through an abuse test. The Rotolock (RotoBlock) and Reeve Integral Lock Framelock are supposed to be a tough combination. In this review I go over the flipping action, stab some wood, and beat the lock on a stump. Does the lock fail, does it stand up. Watch the whole thing!
You can buy the knife at Blade HQ: www.bladehq.com/item--LionStee...
Or visit LionSteels website: www.lionsteel.it/
Slight Correction. The SR1 wasn't a flipper. I said it was but I also said it wasn't. The flipper is one of the updated features.

Correction. Since I am an idiot KZreadr, I said in the very first few lines that the Sr-1 was a flipper... then contradicted myself a minute or two later. The Sr-1 wasn't a flipper, but everyone already knew that.

I use my super steels but do use my ken onion grinder so I don’t have to spend an hr on a stone. My outdoor knives don’t have super steels so they can be sharpened on a small stone out in the woods but for edc I go with super steel folders.

+Nick Shabazz yeah... I normally don't harp too much on a frame lock not standing up to a beating... but this one is touted as being "like a fixed blade". And it's not quite. Again, I have the other roto(b)lock and it's rock solid. Don't know if it's just an anomaly with mine. Now if you just treat this like any other knife, it's a perfectly fine knife. There are stronger locks out there. Thanks for stopping by and the shout out!
I've been away for a while, and am happy to say that you've not lost a step and entertain like no other! Doesn't curve to the left. Bwaaah! :D Keep doing what you're doing, it's golden!

@@AdvancedKnifeBro While I like Ganzo stuff, TwoSun is in an entirely different category, like Benchmade to Kershaw. I've had more than 30 different models in the past year, and all of them have been top notch. They discontinued the TS72, but if you can still find one on Amazon, I think you would be pleasantly surprised. Ive carried it for a year now of regular use and it has held up like a champ. I don't beat on it or baton though, so...

+Survival Mindset sure is!
Great video.. I’m sad to see a knife that they put extra work into making a safe lock by adding the roto...then it failed.. over and over. I’m hoping that’s just a defective one. I have an Sr1 and a lil lionspy as well... I found both of them have to have the roto lock screw tighten pretty often just to get it to stay in the position you want it to stay in. Otherwise it’s pretty cool as a feature.
your humor is great and presentation

I saw before failing a rotolock, or it was rotoblock? well, the thing is that the rotoxxx + frame lock + fit from a high end knife would must be a lot better. I wonder about that weak lock. That piece of tree is too thick, yes, too much for the knife, but the soft hits on the spine... well. It is strange with that system lock. You would talk with lion steel and hear them. Regards!
@AdvancedKnifeBro

It's Block it's definitely block. It calls it a Rotolock here. VVVV www.bladehq.com/item--LionSteel-SR-11-Frame-Lock-Knife--67424 LionSteel calls it a RotoBlock though. The spine whacks weren't that hard. It may as well be a regular old framelock.

Here's the thing about the ti vs aluminum versions: there's almost no difference in function, but aluminum will always wear out. Essentially, the aluminum lock will eventually FALL OFF, regardless of use or care, unlike titanium, which only starts breaking down past a certain angle.

I was so excited about this knife months and months ago, but the more I got to know it the less I was liking it. I went from getting a bronze Ti to any Al on sale to "let's see when people start selling _theirs_ on IG. I think (as you noticed) it was less a point of your Rotoblock™ failing as the frame lock flexing too much. Because aluminum? Hmm, could be - but that's the whole point of an integral? I guess the jury is still out on this one.
@AdvancedKnifeBro
7 жыл бұрын
+slidetek it'd be nice to have a pair of Ti and Al side by side to see if there's more play in the Al. My lionspy is a titanium lock- so that may be it. But yeah... the rotoblock isn't doing it's job, or just useless if there's play in the RIL.
