Lions owner Sheila Hamp says winning Super Bowl would be fantastic

It's been a little more than three years since Sheila Hamp took over ownership of the Detroit Lions from her mom. A lot has changed since then, as well as expectations for the team she now oversees. The growth has meant a lot for Hamp and for the team. It's also meant a lot for fans. But nothing would compare to winning the last game of the season.

Sheila Hamp is the best thing to happen to the Lions in a very long time. Ive NEVER seen any of prior ownership even talk about the team let alone do interviews or even wear Lions merch. She will forever be loved by Lions fans as she was the first owner to give a damn and actively works with the GM and coaches. Love me some Sheila

Agreed. Every winning organization has one thing in common: an energetic and inclusive organizational culture with a shared vision of excellence that everyone buys into. Establishing that is foundational, and, aside from signing paychecks, is an owner's most important role in the success of that organization. She's been amazing. Contrast that with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. Or Daniel Snyder's years as Washington's owner.

I am not sure why KZread suggested this video to me, I don't watch video's on they Lions very often, but they did, and I watched. I am a Browns fan, so I connect greatly with the Lions fan base! I am excited to see what is going on in Detroit. I am impressed with Sheila and Steve and their leadership with the team. My brother works for the Lions, and he shared that to his knowledge, Sheila is the first owner who has an office at the team facilities. He also shared she seems to care greatly about those who work for the team. He previously worked for another NFL team, and he was in the elevator when the owner got on. He was asked to step off the elevator. Sheila knows his name and calls him by it. Steve even got into a goofy discussion on fancy socks with suits with him, and the next day, brought him a three pack of socks. That's the kind of owners you now have in Detroit, and it is awesome.

However, I think that gentle appearance hides the heart of a fierce competitor who desperately wants to win. Her support of Dan and Brad has garnered her their respect, especially after standing up for them publicly last year when the team was 1-5. Like I said, a little lady but she has the heart of a lioness (😉). It would give me great satisfaction to see her lift up the Lombardi trophy. Props also to Chris Spielman for being instrumental in changing the culture and working tirelessly for the team. Time to see where we are with KC tomorrow. For the 1st time in my life(42 years), I feel like my teams owner actually WANTS TO WIN!!! Not to say anything bad about Bill and Martha, I just never really got that feeling from them. I know I'm far from the only Lions fan that feels that way. I'd still love to see Martha get to hold that Lombardi before it's too late!! 💙🦁🏈

Martha had a moment of redemption; the obvious successor was Bill Ford Jr. If Martha had died before William Clay there is no doubt Little Bill would be that successor and SOL would live forever. Instead she outlasted the old man, gave the team to Sheila and the curse of Ford men owning the team is dead.

To see the change right before our eyes has been nothing short of amazing! Shelia is "restoring the ROAR". Stay tuned Pride nation!

Been a Lions fan for 35+ years since the Barry years, and never have I felt such optimism in the front office as I do now. I really do hope the Lions live up to the expectations and knock on wood, everyone stays healthy to deliver on that potential.

This was a great interview. So glad Sheila listened to her mentor and developed her plan around what's the overarching goal and understood that meant everybody's energy, no matte how low on the totem pole had to be on the same page. As Dan Campbell has said, it takes a village, and that means the whole village and that includes a gritty city.

Thank you Martha Ford for passing the torch to Sheila and NOT Little Bill. To the Ford men winning meant is the team worth more today than yesterday. To you and the fans - winning meant both on the field and at the bank. You can do both. You understood that when they wouldn't for half a century. Thank you!!
