The ancient world is changing. King Croesus of the historic kingdom of Lydia has minted the world's first coin from the legendary gold and silver of the river Pactolus. Traditional bartering and trading will soon be supplanted by currency as the dominant form of exchange throughout civilization.
Lions of Lydia is a bag-management and engine-building game about the dawn of currency in the ancient world. As a wealthy aristocrat at the turn of the era, you will hire merchants to barter at the city gates for goods you can use to grow your landholdings. When Lydian merchants arrive from the capital, you will gain access to the versatile Lydian Lion coins they bear, which are needed to establish valuable retail property for the first time in history.
To achieve victory, you must effectively manage the merchants you hire, keeping the best assortment in your bag, while leveraging the unique abilities of each when it is drawn. Traditional merchants will help you specialize in basic resources, but if you fail to convert your surplus into bullion, you may not be able to buy the most useful properties in the city. Lydian merchants, in contrast, are especially suited to help you transition to the new monetary system.
Will you be able to maintain the right balance of merchants to maximize your goals every turn? Will you gain the most valuable and prestigious properties before your rivals? Future generations may hear of your economic triumph or defeat. After a significant number of properties have been purchased and developed, the game will end, and a winner will be declared!

Nice job presenting the game, lads. Seems like a neat design. Light and fast, efficient with the components. I think I’d be able to play it as soon as I’d had gotten it. Ps: nailed the closing lines as a duo 😄

Dude, it's taken so much practice. Jesse is a natural at this, but I gotta WORK! Thankfully, I'm progressing. Haha
I usually watch playthrough videos to see how a new (to me) game plays but after watching this one I think I can go right to playing the game, which was after all the stated goal of your video :) mission acomplished!

This looks like a fun simple game. I love engine builders so I will definitely check it out on KS. Not sure if it is for me due to the number of other things I am backing right now, but will definitely consider it depending on the price it ends up being.

Lions* of Lydia This game looks neat. Having listened to this as background noise I was still able to grasp how to play it, good job on explaining. How many chances have y'all had to play? Do y'all feel it's beginner/casual friendly?

Hey! We've played a few times now. I'd say it can be for both. The strategies in play aren't difficult for someone new to the space to grasp, but more seasoned players can definitely tackle this efficiently!
If I am all the way to 6 with my red recourse (any resource) and I make a move that gives me say four red resources, does that mean that I can move my bottom culture token to the right four times because I was essentially going over 6 each time?
When does this come out? Street date? And thanks!

I am on the road to Gama at the moment so going through and getting time stamps set up has been delayed. Sorry for the delay.
Sorry, but I guess your channel is just not for me. As I was watching your video, I kept thinking ‘Get to your point. I want to know how the game plays.’ I prefer either 1) Give me an overall overview of the game up front and then delve into specifics - that way I know what the game is about; and/or 2) Do a runthrough/playthrough style in order to give us a feel of what the game feels like to play - as opposed to saying, “we’ll get to how this element works later in the video”, making us wait and then only giving an example of that one element. How is that element of play incorporated into the overall arc of playing the game? This video ended up turning into an (imo) way too long - over 20 minute video for a simple game, which could have been a lot shorter in order to explain the game. Or perhaps you could direct us in the video where (timepoint-wise) we can go if we just want a simple explanation. If you made it this far, thank you for reading this critique.

Hey :) thanks for your feedback - I totally understand and agree we can be a little long winded (working on improving that) - for our selves and our game group we feel like this format helps us learn the game better by the end of the video (despite it taking a bit longer to get through it) - even if our how to plays ass not for you - take some time to check out what else we do on the channel :) - reviews, previews, gameplay! Either way :) - I appreciate the feedback - we are always working to improve!

Quackalope Yes, I will check out everything else you do! I just felt like I should give some feedback. However, I was not going to just blast you guys because this format just is not for me. I want to qualify what I say and add why I feel that way, because that is where another data point comes from in the feedback process.
