It breaks my heart ...she did care , poor girl !

There's nothing more heartbreaking than a mother crying for her missing cub, pup, kitten... or child. That one moment when she stopped and was looking intently, you knew she thought she heard something. Perhaps Kupona. I just wanted to comfort her.

Mercy🙏I am so sorry for little Kupona😥💔the lioness mother is clearly in distress, it's been difficult for her. I don't doubt for one minute her deep love for her Kupona but missing for so long does not spell well, heartbreaking. Unfortunate you both had to be the bearer of such sad news nevertheless your honesty is appreciated, thank you!

She seems alone disconnected from any pride. She's childless, she's thin, and the ticks on her neck back and ears means she has not been getting groomed by the othe lionesses, affectionately, in a close nit pride. I feel so sad for her.

I was thinking the same thing. The ticks are sucking all the nutrition from her and that's probably why they died.Kupona had no competition for his mother's milk but he still look ill and weak. I wish they would do a prescribed burn to kill off some of the ticks.

Poor little baby! He did not look good the last time we saw him but was still a hope of him getting better because his tummy was full the last couple of videos. She's sure to learn something from all this the next litter she has! RIP Kupona! ♥

*We were ALL rooting for Kapona-even in knowing the odds of survival were not good.* *An example of how hard life can be for a lion.*

Every time I come on this page I hope the little cub is back with mama. Praying for a miracle.

You can hear the pain in her calls, I have heard lions contact calling for their lost cubs, but this little kupona, well his life was always gonna be a struggle, we all hoped & prayed for him to get stronger & strive towards the hurdles he faced, but this news just breaks my heart 💘 he might be too weak to respond to muma.. 😭🐾🙈

Well, we don’t know what she’s feeling because we don’t have access to her internal states. Anthropomorphising animals doesn’t get us very far.

How incredibly heart wrenching! Such a shame she was so inexperienced, and we witnessed it. The poor girl. Poor Kupona. I can’t even imagine how scared, weak and hungry he must have been, and (more than likely) die a slow horrible, lonely death. 😢😭😢 The lioness is calling so desperately, it’s just awful to witness. The pride must not be as close & caring as other prides given the sheer number of ticks all over her body. Not much allogrooming going on at all. After watching from the beginning when she had three, then two, then one - now… probably none! 😢 Will certainly be very difficult to watch her with another litter again; we will all be on tenterhooks. 💔😢💔😢💔

So hard to contain emotion. Lions have a hard life. Their existence is a perpetual dance between life & death, especially for cubs & lioness moms. Kupona, if it’s not meant to be, be free. F off your savage world. So aching to hear the mom’s anguish calls. Wish we could give more, better protect your species & habitat.

Cubs can survive a week without the pride. We are praying for a miracle and declare that Kupona is alive and well and will be back with his pride. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

*#GREATMINDS** I HAVE ALWAYS noticed the same thing-the amount of ticks.* *It may not seem like a big deal, but it really means she’s not being groomed by the pride.* *Reinforcing social bonds mean everything to a lion.*

Poor mamma, I noticed the ticks also and black flies bitting her. She's a mess. Even her voice is raspy.. Hopefully next time will be a success and no milking issues. . RIP baby boy, you were loved..😢

This poor, sweet mom. She just doesn't understand it. Kupona was so fragile and needed much more help from her to live. But it seems that she really did love him and misses him terribly. Perhaps she will find him for some closure...

They say it’s very common for a lioness to lose her entire first litter due to inexperience. I kinda knew in my gut she was going to lose all her cubs after continuously seeing her with 1 cub less, every time they showed her after their birth. This will drive her back into estrus & hopefully she’ll do much better with her next litter, poor girl. ❤️

For those that don’t think animals feel love and pain, listen to her calling day after day for her little one. Searching and calling and crying, much the same as any human mother does.

He’s going to be remembered as the fighter. I think that sadly the mother likely has some type of mammary gland insufficiency of some kind. Seems he always tried feeding and maybe just wasn’t getting any good milk. I was hoping he could reach the stage where eating meat would help.
