Defenders are mainly trained to defend. Messy toys with them. Forwards are trained to attack but not that trained good as defenders. Imagine, if messi can toys with the defence what would happen for the attackers if messi would stand before them. The true thing is, he is the best of football. Even though He doesnt head, cause he shoots, but if you notice his heads are very intellectual. No one would be a better defender than messi.

People watching Messi play today think he always used to walk around the pitch. They use that as an excuse for Mbappe even though he’s only 24. Football has a short memory. Ronaldo and Messi both used to track back and press when they were younger, they had the hunger and determination and that’s why they’ve been so successful.

When he was playing as a false 9 in Barcelona under Pep one of he primary job was to win the ball high up the pitch and create chances or score goals. These are not defensive actions but actually attacking ones. he intends to wins the ball from the opponents not to defend but to attack.he does these mostly in the final 3rd.he does not track back to help the team while defending deep like mandzukic or firmino .So he is not a defender but actually a great ball winner

Cr7 is almost at Neymar´s level: diving all the freaking time... I would say he dives inside the box at least once per match, hence then Penaldog moniker.
