    Today November 30 2016, I am turning 54 years old and watching this video meant a great nostalgic moment for me. When I was 8 or 9 years old, my dad gave me a train very similar to that. It was Trian-g brand and I also placed it on the floor. I wish I could go back to those happy days! Best regards from Venezuela.

    Caroni100 Me too. My first set was at like 6 years old. Taught me all kinds of useful stuff like electricity, light construction and artsy stuff like scenery. Spent quality time with dad and brother too. Young people are missing out leaning many skills by only doing computer stiff.

    I love how realistic they are. I went to a train museum (and they had huge lionel sets as well as real ones) the coupling system is identical, the wheel size proportions are identical, the lights on the tender are identical, even the coupling and connecting rods are identical. The amount of detail that goes into these models is insane, and expensive.

    Lionel does need to design transition clips to attach there simulated steel bridge piers to attach to fastrack as the wooden piers would be found only on much older circa RR's or temporary shoring.

    i honestly think the main thing holding lionel back from a younger audience (such as myself) is the price. In todays world Im going to want aphone for Christmas and maybe try to save up for a train set during the year but thats not realistic. If the sets were 40 dollars( which would be easy with lowering manufacturing costs thanks to imports) i think it would help hook younger kids into the hobby i enjoy. (im 13 btw)

  • @MemoriesRR

    @MemoriesRR

    7 жыл бұрын

    Tucker Not Sucker! Unless it is multiple engines wattage is not the issue. Any 80 watt transformer will do. But you must have good power distribution to multiple points around your track by running common and hot pairs from your transformer to these many points. I'd start with an arbitrary every 12 feet. More if the train slows down anywhere in the loop. Trial and error, have fun, learn by experience.

    Back in the day, I found many aspects of this hobby interesting but the thing I liked best about our Lionel trains was the ability to use remote-control uncoupling to leave a car on a siding or rearrange the cars in a freight consist. At one point my dad and I had Lionel freight trains each with three freight cars (beside cabooses) for a total of six. (My brother's Lionel train had three passenger cars.) Several of my friends had toy trains of other brands but none of them ever built layouts with sidings, let alone using remote control to uncouple the cars. Please "like" my comment if you like to use toy trains for switching operations or if you like to watch other people use remote-control uncoupling in that way.
