    As a person who lives in Hannibal, who has known of Mark twain’s stories for all of my life, I really hope that they succeed. Not to mention, I think that the C Q, and B diesel streamliners were some of the best passenger locomotives ever. Most people when they think of the romance of railroading think of steam locomotives, and for a good reason, but if there was ever a diesel that was just as romantic and fascinating as any steam engine. It was this one.

    The articulated couplings you had covered in your review are really neat. The mechanism is virtually exactly the same as the original prewar lionel model. This feature was also seen in the prewar City of Portland, City of Denver, the Hiawatha, and also the red streamlined cars that were supposed to go with the 700e hudson like in one of your previous reviews. Great work, Eric!

    Its the best display train for O Scale because the complete train set is 3 cars. The Pioneer Zephry was 3 cars because it was trying to set a record from Denver to Chicago in 1934.

    Fantastic review as always! Another thing diecast helps provide from its weight is increased traction that is more evenly distributed. This also slightly increases momentum when stopping. But you are right, it just feels better and more solid in every way compared to a plastic model. Also, interesting that Lionel is using clear plastic windows on the cars, when recently, they switched over to green tinted plastic windows when using LEDs like in your Crescent or my Blue Comet. I like the clear much better.

    Love your videos and layout! Top notch. I have two questions for you. Firstly, is there any particular reason you chose to go with O-Scale as opposed to HO? I plan on building a layout in the not too distant future and while I always had HO sets as a child, I'm not opposed to the idea of going with another scale. Secondly, and feel free to ignore this if I'm being too nosey, but what do you do for a living?

  • @Ericstrains

    @Ericstrains

    10 жыл бұрын

    I went with O-Scale for several reasons. First, it's what I grew up with so I've just always done it. Secondly, I like the fact that they are a big larger and easier to handle than HO. Third, I think they sound better and do more cool things than HO trains. That's not to say I don't like HO. HO is great too, I just prefer O myself.

    Eric, I always enjoy your reviews. They're presented well, they're clear, they're informative, they have plenty of detail about the model and we get to see it in action. However on the Mark Twain Zephyr, did you realize that of all things they didn't spell Finn correctly. It's got two "n's" on it. Very surprising oversight. Makes me wonder if perhaps someone other than an American was responsible for the lettering. I mean, almost every adult in this country would know that Finn has two "n's". Not meaning to make a big deal out of it, just surprised to see the glitch on an otherwise great looking train set. And I'm pretty sure I'm accurate in my observation -- if not, then I do apologize. But I think I'm correct. Of course, it may not make that much difference to people who buy it.
