Thank you Sophie. I was looking at lion images today and trying my hand at face painting one. This is a really nice tutorial and I appreciate you also like to add some realism to your face painting.

nansea arquette I also look at pictures of live animals before painting one but I sometimes find it difficult to adapt their features to the human face. I'm glad you like it. Thanks a lot for your kind words :)

+Isobel Killingsworth I'm happy if I could help you. As a beginner I would suggest you limit yourself with 10 designs (5 for gils and 5 for boys). Here are my suggestions: Pink butterfly / Ice princess / Cat / Flowers with rainbow / Fairy - Tiger / Monster / Spiderman / Skull or zombie / Pirate or Dog. Train yourself to do each in within 5 minutes or less. Afterwards you can increase your portfolio step by step. Good luck!

Very nice! Where do you get the paint? Is it specifically for face painting or a different type? Also, where do get the paint brushes from? I bought a couple but they aren't very smooth at the end so when I paint, it makes two streaks...

Hello Teodora, Yes I am using only products specifically made for face painting. For more detailed information regarding the specific brands of face paints and brushes I like to use, I recommend you watch my other KZread video that I created specifically on that subject, because I get asked this question a lot. If you have any additional questions after watching it, feel free to contact me. I buy most of my face paint products in England, but depending on where you live, it might be cheaper and easier to buy yours somewhere else. You will find a list of good online shops that I recommend in the description box below that video. Here is the link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aY2fzrJ_k8KrldY.html Hope this helps a little bit....

I love the second one, especially. I'm still new at this, still donating my work at events and gatherings. Only do full face for costume parties, usually family Halloween. Could this be done as a mask ending somewhere below the nose and cheeks?

+Diana Eastman Absolutely yes but I think you would need to do the white muzzle area too (between upper lip and nose), otherwise your lion will look unfinished. You can definitely leave everything out below the cheek and on the chin. It's actually a good idea to do so because that's where kids usually unwillingly wipe off the paint the most after a while.

SophiesTips THANK YOU for quick response. My feelings exactly, mouth and chin on kids are disastrous. I'd like to become a Master Mask Painter, but I have so far to go. Trying to manage viewing your tutorials.Of all I like yours and your commentary best. Been painting casually for a long time. I find my greatest weakness is my teardrops, and mirroring them with my left hand. I have a practice head and pad and am on the pad every day since I got it last week. How can I link to your videos to replay them? You are my SPIRiT GUIDE! Maybe it's too late to go Pro, I'm almost 62, but nothing to do.

P.S. I'm very slow, too. Referring back to my reference pictures too often. Erasing and redoing lines too often.

+Diana Eastman Oh my goodness, can you really paint with both hands? I could never do that. I paint only with my right hand, even on the left side of the face. If it helps, put some tiny dots on each side of the face, checking that they are symmetrical before your start your design. These small dots should be placed at the highest point and lowest point of your design. You can also place a few more in between if it helps. It's kind of hard to explain... I think I should show what I mean in a video! Don't worry about your age, I am not the youngest on the block either (48!) and I only started about 5 years ago. Kids love to get face painted and they really don't care about the age of the face painter. They just want color and glitter, and they're happy!!!! If you are kind and patient, they will love you. Believe me please, it's true.

+Diana Eastman It's normal at first to be slow. I once took a class with the famous Wolfe brothers (world renowned face painters) and they said something I still remember well today, they said: if you want to paint fast... then start painting fast! Meaning, speed up the motion of your hand, no matter what you're doing, and you will see that the loss of quality isn't as bad as you thought. Eventually, you will even improve your quality because speed can improve line work by making it less hesitant. I tested it and it worked! Try it and tell me if it helped. 😘

nice work. I love to make cats with strokes of Hair for boys. i dont get requests for lions and i am tired of tigers so i am going to practice this one for halloween and offer it. i noticed the under 8 crowd really like cats. it is always my most requested. i am trying to offer more ocean, mermaid, unicorns and dragons. i would love to find a game of thrones theme for teens. I am about to make my picture board for summer and I want to offer teen options.

Sounds like a great plan. My experience is that most kids will choose something they see on my board so when I get tired of painting a design or when I see that a design is not often requested, it's easy to just swap it with another one.
