A team of lionesses give the pride's young a hunting lesson in the African jungle. Although they will have to wait in line behind the adult males before getting a taste of their labours. Amazing free wildlife videos from BBC Worldwide.

The way the lionesses had a set game plan in place is phenomenal. Just in case first attack failed, it would be turned over as the decoy, then second lioness pops OUT OF NOWHERE securing their fast food.
The one thing that amazes me is HOW THE HELL DID THEY TAKE THOSE CLOSE UP SHOTS OF THE FEMALE LION STALKING HER PREY?

Those scences come from different moment, then joined in the editing. When the camera was near the lioness, there was no warthog but a dummy animal. Then when the camera is far behind the lioness, it's another footage. The pride is accustomed with the crew.
I LOVE THESE DOCUMENTARIES I COULD WATCH THEM ALLL DAY ESPECIALLY THE LION PRIDE THERE AMAZING BABY CUBS CUTE OR WHAT
The English as spoken by BBC narrators is highly understandable...so clear...love it..

Lions are so majestic animal. They look regal for their mane.
Lionesses r incredible species- a warrior, provider & protector...Thank you lioness moms.
It’s amazing how low and quiet a massive predator can be in hunting
Papa can be rough, but he's loving a loving parent, hence he's cool when the kiddies purr him at 0:08-0:11!
I've also heard that the mane, due to its thickness and heaviness, causes them heat exhaustion. Because of this, their stamina is low and they spend more time sleeping. Also, because they have such large and heavy frames, they are slow at hunts. Despite all this, they're still much more powerful (strength, muscles, aggression) than the females.

Lions can be compared to powerlifters while lionesses can be compared to featherweight mma fighters.
What an impatient male, but his cubs ain't scared of him!
the lioness hunting the hog ws giving major nala and pumba vibes
The biggest characteristic of a lion and the primary factor is his large mane which is great for looks, but is very bad for hunting. That big bush of hair sticks out like a saw thumb and so lions are often seen way before they can chase after prey. Younger lions with undeveloped manes can still hunt as they resemble lionesses which with no mane blend in with the grass. A king will also spend most of his time patrolling his territory and protecting it by fighting other lions... his job.
What a superb example of team work.

People think male lions have it made but that's most definitely not true. Even tho they usually don't hunt (because of their manes) they have to protect their family from things that want to kill their cubs and protect their territory from wandering upstart male lions looking to take over a pride. A male lions life is dominated by aggression and violence. Theirs is a really brutal existence

Nala killed pumba
Often they use a 'boulder cam' where they hide a camera in an imitation boulder on wheels. Its a bit bigger than a basketball. They show it in some episodes and explain how it works.
amazing footage!
I love the stalking part.
Simba is having Pumba for lunch!
Most amazing video.
Bravo!
haha at 2:59 its so cute how the cubs are like skipping all happily to dinner
There is a video of what is happening to the pride after Cecil was killed by the dentist poacher. They are being killed off by hyenas, with no male lion to protect them.
That's a bit illogical of the male lion. If the lionesses don't eat, they won't have energy to hunt again.
@IronRAVENxvx

If the male lions don't eat though, they'd be too weak to defend the pride against other males. Once another male takes over, all those cubs are considered dead already and they will be.
@ss-nc2dy

@@IronRAVENxvx But if the cubs don't eat they'll be more sickly and die anyway. That's what didn't make sense to me. All the lion does is spread it's seed around and what's the point if the kids can't eat and survive?

Utarian7 cubs lives are cheap. Only the strong will have a chance of survival. Like other commentors said if the father lion cannot protect the pride from another male lion then the incoming male lion will kill the cubs. Then the lionesses hormone cycle will kick in and make the lionesses fertile so the new male lion will have cubs with the lionesses. The male lion also protects the pride from hyenas and other threats to the pride. So the male really needs to be strong to protect the pride.
How in the world did they get these shots?
lol me too !
ahahah 2:42 "Woman come here and give me my Lunch"
It's amazing how low such a muscular big animal like a lioness can get
lol at 2:14 its like CHOP bye bye
that's why i love em ;P
Male lions are the pimps off nature.."Yeah baby go out there and get that kill...I sit back and make sure the kids are safe"...lol
LOL..... i love the way full grown male lion sounds. the best stalkers are leopards by the way but that lioness did a good job stalking that shit too
hahaha awesome scene! cute small lions taking food from male jeje
.. This video both makes me happy and sad....
Father of the year :D
They go out in a jeep and just zoom in from there. For the really close-up or in-mouth shots they just leave a camera where the pride tends to hang out and generally a curious lion will pay some attention to it at some point.
Hahaha the cubs at 3:00 are like, wheres my share?
These shots are fantastic, but How and why tf does a lion let someone stick a camera in their face without eating them or making them run away? I understand that some of the shots are far but if you look at the perspective of the lens of certain shots, they couldn’t be anymore than 5-10feet away.
Watching this, I can't help but be reminded of that scene in the Lion King where Nala tries to eat Pumba. I keep waiting for a meerkat to run in from somewhere! 'It's okay buddy, we'll get you outta here!'
How did the cameraman gets this Buddhist this is amazing I’m curious was it a camera on a collar?
@Sraye they made a big rock with a camera in it and it goes by remote and it follows them, their is a couple of videos on here about it.It's really rather neat to watch!!
smart lassies :P
Some researchers put cameras inside what look like rocks. They can remotely control the "rocks" and the camera that's inside them.
they study a lion pride for years, i mean years
Timon: Pumbaa! Hey, what's going on?
Warthhog:pumba from lion king Female lion:nala
Lol that kind of reminds me of my son and I haha
Camera man isnt zooming. The camera is hided in a fake stone and camera man can move the stone with a controller, i saw this documentary.
me trying to steal chips off my dads plate
how the hell do they get this footage... shes in the grass stalking and they look like theyre two feet away from her
They have advanced cameras with high tech zoom Idr how it works!
Is it just me or is it that when the male lion was eating, it sounded like it was burping
They use special cameras that give you the impression that they're close to the Lions, but in reality they are filming several miles away
how does the camera capture this?! wudnt this make noise etc.. and r clearly there for all warthogs to c!?!?
No submission,that's a fighting position
I wonder that too. Maybe they mounted a camera on the neck of some lion? Or maybe they're just sorta imitating the scene?
@louisesoon ikr theyre so coherent
man the lionesses do all the work while the lion just sits there and watches :p

Lion do attack on big prey or lioness is in trouble
lol, random elephant just chillin'
if you want to know how to be stealthly like a ninja. learn stealth tactics by studying lions, tigers and aligaters or crocidiles.
I wonder how they got those really close shots of the lion stalking.
amazing camera work, always fascinates me how the camera is always in the right place for the attack,it cant be luck or guess work and theres no way the attack can be staged wiv wild animals so how do they do it!
Lions rule!
How the hell did they get so close to the lions ?
איזה חמודים האריות הקטנים. מה זו החיה הזות עם הקרניים? זה שור? איזה מסכן הקטן הזה.
@EREX94 I just saw another video where the size and lion mane exposed the pride too soon. The narrator recommended the male lion stay out of it ;-) All that said, the male lions do help hunt the large prey and defend the pride.
females get dinner ready as the man relaxes
I am curious as to how they get shots so close to the animal.
what the hell is up with these camera angles? i dont want to kno how, but WHY?
This happens in the human world too--and it happens a lot!!!
I mean For money, ideas 💡 and good life style 😎
Lion kind deleted scene
trying saying that to his face
Male lions are not lazy, they are big animals therefore their duty is to protect the family, and in return, he gets to eat the bigger share....if there were no male lion to look after the pride the wandering lions would kill the cubs long ago..
i thought the elephant at 2:16 was gonna get the pig.....
How they film so close ?:-|
The male only hunts if he has too, when he 'relaxes with his cubs' hes actually protecting them and looking out for enemy male lions.
makes me laugh how female lions go on hunting, risking their arse to get food for pack, and there is male lion 2:24 sitting his ass down just chilling like: 'ya that biatch will hunt for me and i will relax with ma cubs, sweet'
now see, the lion was using ninja pro, but really marathon pro would have been much more help full
2:18 lioness Tyson knocked that sucker OUT. Did you see that haymaker?? O_o
Fair enough. On Red's behalf, though, you might be reading too far into it. I saw only an appreciation for the natural world in that statement.
UNBELIEVABLE FOOTAGE .G.FRONZI
NationalGeoWild- very interesting comments however I don't think that males are lazy. As you say, they need to conserve or store their energy in case of danger- storing the energy is the best way I would describe -resting is work
anyone know the name of this pride?? is it same pride from big cat diary?

Oh my goodness! the sounds those cubs are making! My ovaries can't handle it! And typical frikken male - Women do all the hard work and he swans in a reaps the reward.
I think he is step father..
Ah lion is a little jerk! :O
@louisesoon yes that's great for a non-english speaker like me
@GingerKidZach There is no ladies first with Tigers - the male Tigers dont hang around, neither to do Tigers have a pride. Lions are the only cats that have family unit together. The male has to eat because when trouble comes (another lion attack) he would have to fight and save the life of the cubs and pregnant lioness
They can become marine snipers

Simba dont let Nala eat Pumba!!!
Aww:( thats kinda sad. those cubs looked hungry.
male lions aren't really lazy. when the females hunt, the males babysit the cubs and make sure the cubs r safe. if there is enough food, male lions often let the cubs eat with them. but if the cubs wait til after daddy is finished, mommy will force the cubs to wait. the male's job is to keep the cubs safe, and the femlae's job is to raise the cubs
Bbcworldwide can you do something about this? I can't take this comment section
@iloveredbull09 hahahah
HOW THE FUCK DO THEY GET THE CAMERA SOOOOOOOOO CLOSE!!!!!
