I've used it a few times now and been very pleased with it. I also put a washer under the tailstock quill lock handle so the locked position is around the other side, keeping it well away from the DRO. That has allowed me to rotated the display even further round so I'm looking directly at it.

Add a selected thickness washer under the sleeve clamp handle so that it clamps with the handle away from the chuck, I would do that anyway, regardless of the DRO. If you are planning to leave it on the mill most of the time then shorten the clamping stud and use a hex nut.

Yes that is an option. It’s been on for some time now so just a nut would also work as it has not been removed.

Thanks so much for making this super informative video. Looks like it will work well for my boxford. One point is that you could shorten the scale to your 65mm tailstock. I cut calipers down in the past.

Yes that would work. In fact I spoke to the company and they are looking into shorter callipers. Thanks for drawing them to my attention.

An adjustable crank handle would be ideal, those that have a spring to change the position on, cannot remember what they are called.

Thanks for the review! I am in the middle of installing DRO on my own mini-lathe and was curious whether the item that you reviewed could also be installed on the crossslide for the X axis. Couldn't get a clear sight of your knob so your impression would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance......

This is designed to fit a tailstock. I think a cross slide would need adapter brackets so I would just buy a generic DRO and adapt it to suit.

Flip the end piece over and put the knob on the bottom. Swap the holder as well. Bob's you're uncle

I did consider that but then the logo would be hidden. Does that matter? Maybe not.

It looks like rebranded Shahe, good addition to the lathe

Could be. The DRO part is generic so could be any of the Chinese brands but I like the overall adaptation and it looks nicely made.

Next project - CNC the lathe....
