Linkin Park played after the Q&A Season at the LPU Summit Hamburg an acoustic version of "The Messenger". Bonus: Chester "forgot" the lyrics and the crowd helped him.

"The Messenger" is the only acoustic song ever written by Linkin Park. The song is very mellow, the guitar is very soothing filled with husky vocals. On February 22, 2011, at a press conference in California, Chester Benington (Linkin Park vocalist) said that this song is for teenagers. He added that teenagers sometimes grow into adults and things can get tough, so finding a home is the only answer for them to live.

InUrCrossHair, I think some people don't even listen to the words (they are just there, this goes for a lot of groups). LP songs have a message everywhere. Chester (as if I know him) had so much to give (that's my opinion, I know nothing) but from what I see (very little) he had this gift and sometimes gift's are a burden. That's me and these are just words in my head.

we'll never see another man / singer like him. God his voice and his talents are incredible,it is so rare to see someone being even better in live or even acapella than in studio version; but more than that he stayed such an humble and lovely man till the end. He changed life of so many people around the globe just by the sound of his voice and the message he and the other guys sent. I discovered LP when I was about 14/15 (i am 28 now), when I was building my personality and who I am today. LP was the first music band I told to myself "I love that, I want to listen to more of it" and they opened the door to rock music to me. I love to think they also played a role in who i am now, their lyrics, messages, it touched me on different level at different parts of my life. Today I listen to so many different bands, but LP is the only one I always come back to on a regular basis. Live in Texas is to me the best album ever and i'll never get tired of it. My only regret is that I never had the chance to see them live, it might be selfish but it makes me real sad that I will never be able to experience them in front of me. I'm proud to be a part of their fan, there is no other band that has / had this impact on the world, to me at least. This song and his smile made me so emotional I wasn't expecting that. I do not believe in god, but whatever is the truth I hope Chester is finally in peace, he deserved better but no one can change that.

What a magic moment.

God is a beautiful God , and although some of the strictest Christians would debate him going to heaven straight away. I , myself a devote Christian believes god took his soul to heaven straight away. The Guy suffered his whole life , and helped those who suffered also . God sees and feels his pain . He is in heaven now, looking down on all the positive things he has helped create . God bless you Chester , I’ll be seeing you again some day ❤️

When you hear his voice and this little vibrations while holding a note ....sometimes clear and loud, then soft again, it always felt like coming home....This loss is still to big to even imagine ....
I love the moment when Brad just tried to tune his guitar, and Chester was there smiling and talking. And Chester forgot his words and asked everybody to sing along. The Messenger is a love song, but it’s a truly moving song. We never notice these moments and now they all seem precious to everyone. Keep singing this song, pass the power to every soldier. We are never alone.
Who can ever dislike something so? Chester's voice was amazing, he was the best vocalist I've heard. Miss him so, so much! 💚
I remember when I got Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight CD for christmas of 2007. RIP Chester, thank you and LP for the music
When I was in the hospital six years ago, this song was the first one I listened to from ATS. "The Messenger" and the whole album was what gave me the streght to get through that experience. It was the album that made me realize just how much I love Linkin Park and just what this band means to me, not just by making music, but by uniting so many wonderful people, making every single fan somewhere out there in the world seem like a huge, beautiful family I can always return to. And to hear you sing along with Chester, giving life to this idea that's been in my heart for so long... I had tears in my eyes and couldn't help but start singing along with the video. :)

Attention exactly what I was thinking. LP camping out in the middle of nowhere and everyone's sitting around the campfire, then Chester starts singing The Messenger and everyone joins in. Count me in 🙋

This makes me cry for some reason. A warm night, the fire snaps mischievously, and everyone starts to sing this song. Their voices carry above the trees. Everything is alright.
2024 and still here to appreciate it ! And the part where he forgets the lyrics and people sing with him make this vidéo so unique 🤌🏽🔥
we'll never see another man / singer like him.
GOD give that voice.

Exactly right after the words " when you've suffered enough" you can literally see him almost break down , then gets the crowd in to finish. There has to have been some raw feelings in the crowd at that point . And Chester ofc , rest his soul. Got me through my teens, i'm pretty sure i'd be dead at 14 without their music getting me through my teenage years .
2020 has just begun. Currently 3 pm on a Monday. I sit here, at work, listening to Chester sing as I try to keep my tears inside.
God please bring back this man. How i wish depression was not a thing.

This video shows the true power, and talent of Linkin Park
Used to watch this video all the time a few years back when I was younger. Chester's vocals in this particular video are beautiful and I remember how it legitimately used to give me goosebumps. Not really been into Linkin Park for a while now, but I came back to watch this again for the nostalgia in light of what's happened. Thank you for everything Chester. I know you made my life better, alongside countless others. I hope you've found your peace x

I will never forgot you, Chester :(
I remember listening to this 7 years ago, I was mesmerized by this acoustic version. Now listening after so many years the feeling is the same.
I like how when he forgot the lyrics everybody supported him 😊. My world will never be the same without Chester. He was the energy and agressivness that i long to listen to.
