This song is so beautiful and melodious, yet so deep, dark and depressing. Just like Iridescent, Castle of Glass, Shadow of The Day, and Leave Out All The Rest. I can't believe that out of all of these types of songs by LP, this one seems to be one of them that gets the least recognition. I love it so much, and strongly believe that it should get more praise and should be recognized as one of the greatest songs ever created, because this song is absolutely amazing. It shows what is truly happening today all over the world, and how us citizens of the world should work together as a whole and as a unified community to stand up against our corrupt governments to take back what is rightfully ours: Our freedom.

This song speaks out against the US government under the Bush administration, and is a call for citizens to take action. Issued addressed include The Iraq war, the disparity between rich and poor, and gas prices. Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda has described the song as a "big middle finger to George Bush."

The bankers put in whoever they think will do the most bidding for them. Presidents don't work for the American people they only work for the banks. people think Trump is going to save us, America fooled again. Trumps cabinet was full of Wallstreet, ceos and had Goldman Sachs on his team. A team that shutdown the economy putting all kinds of small businesses out of business. He is part of the Washington establishment, they all are. They are all part of the same club who purposefully start wars only to profit. President Wilson later came to regret signing the bill, Federal Reserve Act of 1913: "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." like it says in the fallout series. "war, war never changes" doesn't matter which era of human history, we'll repeat the same mistakes as those before us. the song could have come out during the gulf war and it'd still mirror recent events. those at the top don't care what happens to those below so long as they and their nearest and dearest, can sleep peacefully. we saw this with the draft, the more wealthy were able to get out of going when their number was called, while the less fortunate had one of three choices, go, run to another country, or be put in prison with a fine they knew there was no way they could pay. even then when they came back, they were spat on, and called various names. a person who was forced to fight and possibly die in another place simply because the leader feared the spread of something didn't deserve that sort of treatment. they didn't want to go, they didn't want to kill men, women, and even kids, but when the commanders said jump, all they could do was say " how high".

Came back to listen to this February of 2022, after shots were fired in Ukraine. I don’t believe in any higher being but for the sake of expression, I hope to god that this situation doesn’t escalate to World War levels. My generation jokes about the end quite often but it’s still terrifying to think that the world could destroy itself now if one nuclear missile is launched…

june 1, 2020. riots across america. this song means more than ever. rip george floyd. this is civil war. we can’t let the moment pass. we have to make the point that it’s time for america to change. this is the breaking point. inequality and sanctioned murders won’t be tolerated. not another second.

I’m not against’ blm but George Floyd was high on ketamine and other drugs and before that moment he sold drugs to many people so by all means he wasn’t a stand up citizen by any means. They still shouldn’t of killed him though

Birb With Glasses you’ve got some facts wrong mister. there was no ketamine for starters. and even if he was high as a kite, that’s no reason to sit on a man’s neck til he dies. it was a racially motivated murder. the criminals are the cops. whether he was a sinner or a saint isn’t really the issue... it was excessive force and murder. the bad men are those officers. and it’s happened a dozen more times since mr floyd and a million times before mr floyd. there is gross inequity in america and the field needs to be leveled. we’re seeing inequality of arrest, inequality of force, inequality of health care, inequality of education, inequality of income, of banking, of housing, etc etc. it’s an indefensible social hierarchy that america is imposing on the non white. there is so much we need to work to correct where the ills of american society are concerned that it will take us 100yrs if we worked hard at it. the good that we do today won’t be lost if we all work together at it. also: just at least, at absolute minimum, get your facts right. it wasn’t ketamine. google.

@@magicmanpreza1081 that’s no reason to give up on truth. you can find the truth with a minimal amount of digging. truth exists and is accessible. people just throw up their hands anymore and say we can’t know anything as true..... that’s weak.... and it isn’t true...

As I've now gotten older since I first heard this song when I was about 15 or 16 (now 25) it really makes me realize how horrible the world or certain types of people have become just for their own agendas.

everyone has something they want to accomplish. but what often happens is while they try to work for the benefit of others. they find it's easier to just work for their own benefit. they start letting any number of the seven mortal flaws (i know they're called the 7 deadly sins, but i prefer a non religious term for them) in and once that happens. anything you thought you were doing that was good, has been hijacked. it also comes down to the phrase "damned if you do damned if you don't" because you could try and do all sorts of positive things. but someone will find any number of faults with it. like if it took four years to end world hunger people would question why it couldn't have been done sooner before so many people died from it. someone could find a cure to every illness in the world, and people would still complain why it hadn't been done sooner. no matter what positive action someone does, there's going to be that one person who wonders why it couldn't have been done sooner before it became a problem.

Alex Mercer that makes no fucking sense dude, it's "when the rich wage war, it's the poor who die" your sentacne makes no sense becasue you're talking about the "poor" in plural and then ""dies" in singular. You could've ment it as "When the rich wage war agains the poor, who dies?" but you're missing some key elements and it's not the lyric to the song anyway.
