Dad usually used to call me looser ,rif raf , rubbish coz i didn't get recommended in army,friends are leaving because am boring even i nearly tasted death too .but whenever i think about suicide the picture of my mom came in front of my eyes who still cares for me then i stop thinking about suicide. Just one think kept me going is HOPE.🙂

I lost my boyfriend to suicide on December 19th, 2007. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him. Even 11 years later. This was one of his favorite albums, and of course now I know why. I hope him and Chester are up there rocking out. The sun has set for them.

Shadow Of The Day simply tells the story of a man (songwriter) who is going through a very, very difficult period in his life. It seems that he is depressed and has serious problems (whether love problems, whether life problems). Sometimes the problem has a solution, but sometimes the problem is without a solution. The lyrics also describe that his life is always dark and difficult like the shadow of the day. Because the sun's rays always shine on people, while the songwriter is only between the dark sides (shadows) of the sun. So being alone (leaving the outside world) is the only option for him to escape from all these problems.

This is for anyone who is calling suicide "selfish": Those are words spoken by people who have never experienced depression. If you say you have, you're lying. Think about the concept of death. It's scary, isn't it? Now think about taking your own life. Unthinkable, right? That's because every living being, including Humans, have what is called a "survival instinct". Do you think going against a natural instinct like that by ending your own life is the decision of a sound mind? No, it is the decision of someone who is broken at their core. Someone who can't see a light at the end of the tunnel. With that in mind, you can't honestly call it selfish anymore. It is a sickness. A horrible, festering disease that some people may never recover from. Would you blame someone for dying of cancer? Depression is no different. That being said, you should do everything in your power to fight it. Fight it as hard as you can for as long as you can because there's plenty of people who do recover from it and come out the other end stronger. You should always strive for that but no one should be placing blame on people who couldn't fight any longer. The only thing to blame is the disease.

Damn. Still see so many believing Chester took his own life. Tom podesta, you know the Hillary Clinton right hand man involved in all the pedophile shot and pizza gate, is Chester's father. Chester and Chris Cornell were good friends, and trying to come up with a way to "out" these elite pedophile freaks without getting killed. Obviously they lost that race. Just because u are a fortunate one who does not need to face such disability you can be happy in your life just by making a lot of money. Even then I think he knew that he couldn't carry on anymore.. It breaks my heart knowing that his very last show ever.. Was a cry for help and for some reason he was booed off stage.. YES, it was only when I became a teen when I knew the band was Linkin Park and recognized the old songs on the radio. I remember when my dad would pick me up from school and it would play. I wish I had known about Chester sooner as a kid.

This song always has me in my feelings. I'll sometimes wake up out of a deep sleep, turn on my KZread app, and listen to this. Miss you, Chester.

I have been a big LP fan for many years. LP was a band that meant a lot to me during my teenage years. Their songs got me through many things. I'll admit, I haven't been as big as a fan lately, but I still turn to them every so often. And this song speaks to so many people suffering through the pains of life. Respect people. Love them. Give them a hug. And don't forget to tell them you love them. Many people suffer silently. They may seem happy, and in wanting to please they put a smile on their face. Even though inside they're dying. You don't have to be alone. You don't have to suffer alone. There is help. There is hope. There are people to talk to. Never feel as if you're a burden to others, because you're not. Asking for help is not a weakness. It means you're strong. Never give up. Depression might have taken Chester, but LP's music rings on. Depression is an evil monster. I know, I suffered through depression and I know how it feels to die inside. Suicide is evil, let's stamp it out. RIP Chester, you will be missed my good man.

Well said. Like yourself I have been a big fan of Linkin Park through my childhood and now throughout my final years of teenagehood. This song has always been my favorite one, and its a good song to dedicate to Chester, now that hes passed away. Chester, the shadow of the day will embrace the world in grey; and the sun will set for you... you will be missed, and us fans will love you until our days are done.

When I heard this morning that Chester committed suicide, this is the first song I thought of. I was never a die-hard fan of Linkin Park, but seeing how I grew up with them, the news really broke my heart. RIP

I was getting my hair cut at a barber shop when the news hit me. They played this song, citing it as one of the best examples of Chester's vocal talent. My mood that day went from chill elaxed\happy to depressed\sad in an instant. Also, I noticed something interesting about select Linkin Park songs over the years... Crawling, Breaking the Habit, Runaway, Shadow of the Day (this). and many more. Those songs all seemed to foreshadow that Chester was going to take his own life. Rest in peace, Chester.

The song doesn't have a different meaning. The meaning is the same as it always has been. But the meaning has been made far more clear. And has shown how personal songs like these were to Chester and his own life. The only solace that we can ever hope to have for Chester is that he is now at peace. Peace with himself, and the world. I'm not religious, and I'm not a big believer in there being a life after this one for us. But I now hope there is, just so that Chester can find his freedom.

Seriously the EVERY single song of him i heard, i just feel he is saying goodbye to us . And this song made me really very emotional. Listening to Linkin Park songs. I've been through depression and anxiety, my father died dec 2016 and my mother died feb 2017. I was left alone. Im living alone, i battled through every day of my life. Finding reasons to live. I am thankful to my boyfriend who never left me through out this journey. Without him, and without God i will not be here anymore. I am not really a religious person, but ever since these things happened in my life, it brought me closer to God. Choose who you wanna battle with in this times of hardships, and with the proper people in your journey, you will see the sun setting again for you, like what this song is saying. God bless!

Roweanne Flores I totally feel you. I’m sorry about your parents. I lost my best friend(MOM) in June 3 years ago and then my dad last July. My only sibling, my older brother died July 27th, when I was 9 and (he was 19) over 20 yearsago(hard to believe that long)ago. Im the only one left here from my closest family members.So I feel so lost, alone, and like it will not get any better. I really feel like an orphan I mean I’m only 37 so I feel like I should still have atleast one of my parents here,but life don’t work like that. Some days are alright, but most of my days are dark. If it wasn’t for my 15 year old daughter I don’t think I would still be here for real and I hate saying that, but it just hurts so bad and it’s so hard to go on without any of them here. I believe God has shown me in different ways that they are all good and I know they wouldn’t want me to be like this, but it was just to soon. There’s still so much more they could have seen.

I do understand all of you, I lost my bestfriend(my mother) July 29 2016, day b4 my 61st B-day! I don't celebrate anything anymore. I'm bipolar disorder and manic depression. I'm just trying to cope with life 1 day at a time. You all are right Linkin Park songs have help past present and hopefully future! R.I.P. As Im sitting on my front porch alone ive decided today is the day for the first time in years i would listen to the last song i heard when I would call your phone. I never realized how much listening to this one song would speak to me about the pain you went through. The struggle you were going through. I wish i would have reached out nore to help ease your pain. But i know there isnt much i really could have done to help you. As i sit here crying and listening to this song over and over thinking about you, a red Cardinal just landed on my fence and in that moment i realize you are here listening to it with me. You are my guardian angel always watching over me. It doesnt make it any easier but im so happy to know you are still here with me everyday of my life. I really hope you are proud of me. I hope to make the proudest mother in the world even if you are in heaven watching over me. My heart is so broken to know that i will never hear your voice again. I will never see your beautiful smile again. Its been over 6 years and it still hurts just as bad as the day I got that phone call. I love you so much Mommy.

Chester we miss you ... Our generation appreciate your voice and style .

After my mother passed in 2001 from suicide I heard Linkin Park a lot. I was only five but I knew what the songs meant and their music is what kept me afloat. When Chester died I was at work and I heard it on the radio my heart breaks for his kids and wife because I know the feeling so well. I just hope whoever struggles with mental illness can find their peace and hold on because your worth it.

I came here because of my boyfriend who suffered depression. He told me he loves Linkin Park's songs. So I decided to like it too! I Love You man!

Heard this on the radio the other day. "The sun will set for you." What a way to put it.

I saw him in concert when I was 13 and I was screaming at the top of my lungs singing the hardcore parts of his songs... I will never let the memories of love I have from this band disappear..

Chester. I first heard linkin park as a teenager. I was going through physical and emotional abuse. Struggled with depression and anxiety. Your music showed me that someone else is going through what I was going through and wasn't afraid to express it. Your screams in your songs were a reflection of myself longing to scream all the feelings you expressed in your songs. You touched my heart and I am sad you are gone. I will miss you my friend. Thank you for saving my life.

I know how you feel Christian! Linkin Park kept me from killing my self at least a dozen times. When I would listen when I was in one of those deep pits of depression I would start to feel better because I could hear the fact that he was there too in his singing! An d I know of a few others that they helped!

Linkin Park has always given me strength. Their songs have always been able to help me keep going, especially when I needed it most. Several of my friends are no different, once I explained why I like them. The simple explanation is a Resonance between my Heart and the song itself, But that's only the beginning. Such a high resonance with so many of their Songs resulted in so many good things happening to me. Several of them get me through a Harsh 12 hour shift at work, even now, when i don't need the emotional boost anywhere near as much. At this point, I'm happy to be alive, and I'm thankful to Linkin Park for helping with that.

Dear Chester, I actual went to my first "session" at the VA today. It was basically routine information gathering of course, but I ended up word vomiting my life history almost. I felt almost guilty for taking up more time than what was allotted and none of my issues are combat related at all so it feels like I'm using the VA. that someone else should have my time. When I listen to this song my throat chokes a bit and tears come rolling. Linkin park was my gateway to rock music when I was young and Chester was and always will be my hero. Listening to his music made me go through so many dark phases of my life , I could never repay him enough for his contribution in my life. He sings from the inner core of his heart that is why people like me can relate to his music so much. Believe me while writing this my eyes are in tears. Rest in peace Chester you will always remain in my heart........

I finally understand this song and relate to it in its entirety. You wake up every morning hiding how you really feel in order to protect the ones you love. Unfortunately sometimes you just want the pain to stop !

Fighting suicide isn't easy, and sometimes thinking goodbye is the only way. I have battled depression for years and have considered suicide as my only option, how I'm still here I don't know.....I can relate to Chester in every aspect, but can't talk about it to family or friends because they just tell me to get over it like it's something I can control...

Matt Brooks it's the same for me. I'm 14 and hurting. Tonight I cut my wrists and bled. I should be okay but I could've killed myself. I'm just so alone here. My parents want to leave me again. I can't take it if they do. I have nowhere else to go
