Linköping - Where HISTORY Comes ALIVE | Students, Fighter Jets and Bloodbaths

Linköping is Sweden's fifth biggest city and it lies on the Östgöta Plain, between Stockholm and Gothenburg. These days it's known as a student town, but it has a surprisingly bloody history!
For more videos every week, subscribe to the channel: kzread.info...
Also, join the Three Star Vagabond Facebook group to discuss upcoming videos: / threestarvagabond
In this video I show you the most interesting areas of Linköping, and I also tell you about the history of the town. To spice it all up, I also give you some personal notes and observations coming from someone who actually lived there for 11 years - both as a student, and while working.
The places I show in this video include:
- Stortorget, the main square of Linköping
- Trädgårdsföreningen, a calm oasis in the middle of the town
- Tropikhuset, a cafe that you can find in Trädgårdsföreningen
- Linköping Cathedral, one of the biggest cathedrals in the Nordics
- Linköping Castle, where a trial was held that led to the Linköping Bloodbath
- Gamla Linköping (Old Linköping), an open-air museum that takes you back to the 19th century
- Stångån, the creek that runs through town
- Ågatan, the very short but (regularly) very lively party street
- The Linköping Air Force Museum
- Bergs slussar, part of the 190 km long canal Göta Canal
- Linköping University, including the (informally named) Viagra Park
- And of course, I show you the pride of Linköping - Bosses Ice Cream Shop!
Along the way I also marvel at the cheap hot dogs you can find here, tell of drunken exploits at various night clubs, show some clips from the geek conventions LinCon and NärCon, and a lot more.

Seeing how the common people lived back in their traditional communities is a great break from the endless castles, palaces and other places where the Uber-wealthy lived.❤

Lingoping is quite a beautiful city, a lot different than some places you’ve been. I used to sit by the boat locks near or summer house and watch the first timers make mistakes, then get yelled at by the harbor master, quite a good time. You were right all good story’s don’t start with I was sitting there drinking earl grey tea, I went to buy a motorcycle from a gentleman and noticed the front forks we at different heights, ask him what happened, his answer was , I was at a bar, left the key on that killed the battery, got a push to jump start it an ran into the back of a parked car, hope he sold the motorcycle 😅. Stay safe till next time
