Lines On Screen GPU Fault - 27" iMac A1312 Mid 2011
Ғылым және технология
An issue that seems to reach many A1312s sooner or later.
In this video, we replace the faulty GPU with a much more reliable one, to keep this iMac running well for years to come!

I think I have this problem. Can I send the computer or do I need to bring it to you? I'm in London.
i did all this a year ago and it lasted maybe 14 days
400 degrees for 9 minutes
That's expensive for a cheap second hand replacement card, €100 materials and two hours work max. I hope you flashed it to mac since if not there's significant shortcomings. No startup screen so no system picker, no second screen possible and no brightness control. Your information about baking the cards is also erroneous. I was sceptical but I've now done three by simply baking the card whole in a domestic oven at 300ºC for eight minutes. One didn't work at all (it's symptoms were different as the mac wouldn't even start until I took it out) but the other two are still going strong over two years later and one of them works 10 hour days, six days a week in a busy architects office!

They're replacing it with a lower model amd chip. They aren't upgrading it. For the price charged I would have expected a newer gpu that would be much less prone to failure
