iMac Lines on Screen - Green Vertical Lines
Ойын-сауық
So you're looking at your mac screen, it could be iMac or any other mac computer you have and green or pink vertical lines appear suddenly and unexpectedly while booting up. If this is the problem you have, know that I have the very same one. So here, in this video are some tips on what to try and what actually caused the whole problem.
Hope it helps.

Hi inhave a 13” 2014 macbook pro, i have the green vertical line any workaround?
Your time machine drive should show up when starting with alt. Also, holding the D key or option-D (loads over the internet) to run diagnostics but that issue, which is a GPU issue is undetected by the test.
Hi mi i mac 27 mid 2011 problem like this is that lcd destroyed or not? Thanks
"bake it in the oven, this is completely irrational" No, far from! The idea that its a bad idea comes from a lack of knowing what the oven does to the parts. Remeber, a chip is mostly a crystaline structure with a lot of other high temperature parts around and in it. A cpu can easliy handle 90*c operating temperature and keeping it at 200 for 8 minutes isnt stupid at all. Thats what they do in the factory and its called a reflow oven (surface mounting). The temperature is only there to let the solder melt and reform. Solder is a metallic compound, often with soft lead in it, and its used to create an electrical path between a chip and the pcb its mounted to. The solder has a second primary function and its to keep the part in place after its cooled down. If the parts couldnt handle 180-230*c the computer you are using wouldnt be able to exist. Its good to be sceptical but with scepticism there should always be a bit of research being done. Being sceptical in itself and relying on preconcieved notions isnt very helpful and is a major reason to why antivaccers exist, for example (not a kind comparison but its a striking one).

The solution is irrational when it’s a temporary solution. Having watched several of these “baking”/ reflow videos it strongly leans towards a temp solution. You mentioned lead in solder and I reckon that’s what’s missing here. The core of the gfx card mounted with a back bracket put it under tension when mounted. Then temps close to a 100 deg C kick in under high load and eventually one or more solder joints break. A reflow will “fix” until the next couple heat waves occurred. I’ve seen a comment on such a “baking” video where a guy did get the gfx card working 8 times with the oven method. Surely, we need a permanent fix for those still decent cards with up to 2GB of VRAM. Not sure why you mentioned antivaxxers, but I reckon the have their point and anyone else lining up for every single jab they can get have their point. Both POVs are to be respected.
Hi great video, I got two thin vertical lines, one red and one blue on the left third of the screen. I have got a mid 2007 20 inch iMac. The lines are there all the time, even when booting, what could be my issue?

why great video? are you out of your mind? wtf is wrong with people. there is no solution, its just a waste of time for people!
What if my I Mac new when first start up its show vertical line
Mine happened a few days ago.It was nearly 10 years old.Same model as this.
Apple was replacing imac video card that had this problem. They replaced mine for free. I think it was part of a serial recall. It happened to mine 5 years ago.
I had the same exact issue, same exact Mac also. Less than two years ago I took it to the Apple Store genius bar and since I did not get notification of a recall they fixed it for free; however I am now experiencing the same exact issue all over again. WHAT WAS YOUR RESOLUTION TO YOUR ISSUE? The video cards are ridiculously expensive and I’d rather put money into a new computer, but I have tons of pictures, music, bookmarks and other miscellaneous things I need off of the MAC.

“Easy” fix would be connecting the internal disk drive to another Mac, either internally or externally. Of course the better solution would be a perm fix for the issue on hand - (mostly) the vertical lines.
Hold shift to use safe mode.
I have a blue line on my screen and I can’t fix it -
My screen came up with multiple colours vertical lines, or should I say look like that test card on TV with multicoloured vertical bars. At first the screen just went blue and then it just shut off. I am plugged it put it back on nothing. I then read about letting your computer cool down And first unplug all peripherals unplug it from the mains for about five minutes we plug it in and it should be okay. I did that will be hold. It was okay. I didn’t occur to me that I downloaded the fan updates. Because when you put in a new hard drive or a bigger hard drive, they don’t have the sensor as the original hard drive so you have to download the fan drive app. When the app updates, you have to reset the fans to run at the right pace as they either go into turbo or not at all and that is what happened. So my iMac 2011 overheated and turned itself off is now working fine.
I baked my chip like a year ago... just got the green lines today.... omggggggg here we go again
I enjoy your videos❗️Sorry about your Mac❗️
My imac have lines on screen but his screen are black and and the lines are red
Don't watch,just Waist of time..🤔

Thanks for the feedback! But could you explain more why it's a waste of time? I try to include useful info and tips on what to do..

@@foxtecc You’re not providing any useful information in this video. You’re only saying things that you think might work and things that didn’t work at all (like Command-R). People are looking for solutions and you have provided NONE in a video that’s over five minutes long.

I’m getting literally the exact same issue with the exact same computer. Hopefully this fixes it.

@@foxtecc Yeah. Old computers are nice until they break down.
My is blue lines and then turn into blue dots 🤦🏽♀️
Reballing of the VGA chip is the solution. This is the design error Apple had on this product line. They even launched the free repair program at that time. Baking the card in oven had worked for me but it depends if you are lucky. Better to do a reballing on the authorised service. GL
There is no useful info in this video. Just a lot of if’s and what’s. His Mac died. No fix.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I still have that computer and there are some things I will try to do to it in order to fix it, so I'll probably make an updated video on that topic.

Apple Fox. Try tartak17's answer. Dont, know your Mac-model, but a common problem with iMac's from around 2010/2011, is the soldering on the GPU getting cracked because of heat from an HDD. Bake the card for 10min at 200 dgr Celsius, to let the soldering melt back. You fine the whole process by googling it. ;)
Another solution: reset nvram the keep it turned on in login page . About 10 hours on. The, it will recover. Remeber to install mac fans and keep all temperatures bellow 45 celsius

Annoying right?
bruh
Try turning off the IMAC for couple of hours and start up it might resolve this
So basically, get a new computer. Got it.
Very dissapointed. I thought you going to open it up and try to fix it.
thank you for wasting my time
