Thank you for a bass/helix video, but there are more distortion/fuzz stomp boxes out there than any other kind. I would LOVE to see a bass/helix video about CLEAN bass models for funk, jazz, and R&B. Keep on keepin’ on. Sounds like you produce some amazing heavy jams !!!

That's the best sounding Stomp demo I've heard so far.

This sounds spectacular and is going to force me to explore sculpting more of my bass tone in the helix like I try and do with my guitar tones. Thanks for the walkthrough Jon!

Get the ownhammer bass cab IRs he recommends. I have them as well and use them on my Kemper. They come out sounding GREAT, like crazy good. Ownhammer IRs are the special sauce, I found them on this channel and I've never found anything that sounds remotely close to as good.

My Helix Rack is always sleeping. I really need to load some IRs into it. Its like a rabbit hole for me I spend all my time with tube heads and cabinets, mics n stuff. You really know your stuff, and your videos are amazing. You really bring it , great job on everything. Cheers from Michigan- Erin

further suggestions for these kind of videos, a before and after demo to the end where you quickly show how the mix improves with each step. Other than that perfect stuff as always.

This mix is nice, not only the guitars give the bass plenty of space for it to sound huge, but they also sound very big, low mid focused. Usualy mixes that let so much space for the bass have pretty thin guitars with poor low mediums. Good job.

Awsome video. I really appreciate the way you teach how to reach amazing tones. This video was very useful for me because few time ago I came back to play bass and I needed some tricks to reach good tones in my demos and I didn't know much about bass tones. I hope more videos like this (and more IR's for bass). Maybe, I'd like examples of clean or warmth bass tones in the future. Greetings from Chile.

Thanks for the video. I have been struggling with my bass tone forever :D. To my ear the distortion pedal introduced quite the compression and rounded off the high end clank.

I know it has been two years, but I really hope you can answer me anyway to this nice video :) The split before the distortion, is that an even split or do you split it as a crossover by only letting the lower frequencies through the distortion?

Great video. Really helpful and clear. How did you get Helix to receive the DAW signal? I have an HX Stomp XL and would love to be able to configure my sounds this way. I use Reaper as a DAW. Thank you so much.

In this video, he's using the Helix Native plug-in. However, if you want to reamp through the HX Stomp, you'd need to use it as a USB interface. The USB Outs 5 and 6 give you a DI signal that you can record along with your amped tone. For reamping, you'd need to set your inputs on the HX Stomp to "USB 5/6".

The voicing control on an ampeg isn't really a "highest" setting just FYI. When it's on 5 you're just at voice 5. Voice 3 is flat.
