Everytime I see you dancing, I remember my violin teacher telling me "don't move! Nobody plays well while moving!" and it makes me giggle. You are crazy talented. You're an inspiration.

It's like people are told they sing better when tensed up, which is false. You sing better and longer when you're more relaxed.

I doubt she plays this well while moving. In cases like these they just overlap the studio audio with the video and synchronize it. I'm not saying she can''t do what she shows in the videos, but just keep in mind that there is some difference between what you hear and what she actually sounds like.

one look at Lindsey (or even more so Mairead Nesbitt - she is the reason I play violin - kzread.info/dash/bejne/rGGo1tSKY5vTf8Y.html) - and that idea goes completely out of the window!!! Suppose it depends on the coordination and strength of the player! Great performances from Lindsey all the time!

There is something crazy about that thought man. Humans are defiant beings, and by that i mean that every time someone tells us not to do it or you can't do it, we just reply them with:"Oh yeah? Watch me and take the notes!". So yeah, if you want it, you can have it.

TO BE FAIR, her AGT audition wasn't very good. I personally didn't like it. Lindsay did show the judges how amazing she actually is though, by improving. that's why Linsday is so inspirational, she got rejected on live TV in front of 100s of millions of people, but she didn't give up, she improved A LOT and became what she is today. her live performances have gotten much better.

I like Lindsey, but at the same time she pulls attention and resignation from other violinists that are WAY better than her, if you have ever heard her live playing you will understand that she really isn't even close to the best violinists. I play cello but I've seen that whenever a violinists tells someone they play violin, the first thing they ask is if the violinist has heard of Lindsey Stirling... when there are others way better than her and it can get quite annoying.

I don't get people's message about "cultural appropriation." Like, what are they trying to say? Dressing outside of my own culture is an insult and forbidden?? Certainly, that kind of thinking doesn't broaden one's mind.

For those crying "cultural appropriation" in the comments: The proper definition of cultural appropriation is claiming a culture of which you're not a part to be your own. I'll use myself as an example. I'm German, so I celebrate German culture. If someone who isn't German likes the culture and decides to partake in something like, let's say, Oktoberfest, but doesn't claim that s/he is German, I have no problem with that. But if that same person claims to be German, when in fact, s/he is Portuguese, then that would start rustling my jimmies. Now, I know some might say, "But you're European. You did that all the time and still do that." I'll include a better example. I play the didgeridoo, an instrument played by Australian Aborigines. I'm not claiming to be Aboriginal, I just appreciate the didgeridoo for what it is. But if I was claiming to be Aboriginal, that would make me a jerk. And nobody likes a jerk. If anything, what Lindsey's doing here is cultural appreciation. She's not claiming to be Indian, she's drawing inspiration from Hindu culture for this song/video. If all of her songs were like this, then yeah. That'd be offensive. But this is one song off of one of three albums. So please. Chill out. Have some popcorn. Just calm down. Edit: If you do wanna argue with me, please do so in a civilized manner. Don't resort to insults and the race card. I will point and laugh at you. Edit #2: 130+ likes in four days. My, what talking sense can do.

When you take from another culture that you do not belong to, that is cultural appropriation. But not all cultural appropriation is created equal!! Some cultures are more "closed" than others, and adaptations of their symbols and styles is NOT okay, but in this case Indian culture is at a point where they ENCOURAGE people sharing and spreading their culture. They have survived British occupation for literally hundreds of years and they're survive 1 musician using Bollywood influence in their music. Are there any Indians in the comments whinging about Lindsey's use of music and imagery here???

Thank goodness someone else said it. I'm so tired of EVERY TIME someone who isn't part of a particular culture, gets accused of "cultural appropriation" when they step outside the lines. There is nothing wrong with being inspired by other cultures, plus, there were clearly people of middle eastern descent in the video, and lending vocals. Just because someone steps outside of their own culture, doesn't make it appropriation. I'm African American and I love to belly dance, but I'm not acting like I come from the Middle East. Cultural appropriation is taking something from another culture and acting like you own it, or invented it, or came from it when you didn't. Art is inspired by many things. We can't understand each other if we don't share our cultures with each other, and allow each other to partake in those aspects.

Unsure as to just exactly how I have never even heard of Lindsay Sterling at all, let alone ever witness to someone who commands a musical instrument such as the violin 🎻, equally has an ability of the TALENT when she is dancing as though she is walking and effortlessly in charge of the very air and all spaces around her to make this incredible woman fly and soar unbounded ! AND THEN I WATCHED HER CRYSTALIZED VIDEO. (eyes bulging jaw to the floor, recall not breathing out of not wanting to miss ANYTHING !!!) EXTRAORDINARY !! Well done Lindsay !!

Sorry, what authenticity? A few Indian instruments, the vocals use classical Indian /Carnatic sounds, but pretty sure they’re off (not sung by someone trained in Indian music) or ruined during mixing? & the video shows costumes that are anything but Indian, in fact the belly dancing belts are Arabian influence. So it’s basically a mishmash fantasy piece not true to any particular region/culture etc. I usually like Lindsey’s work but those pieces are either Celtic, classical or fantasy. Not this particular piece.

+Just No Why would Lindsey do that? She's not British and she doesn't live in Britain. She's only ever competed on America's Got Talent (and technically Dancing with the Stars, but that's not relevant). So no, she hasn't had any bad interactions with Simon Cowell.

My favorite thing about this is that the dancers have figures and thighs. I'm so used to seeing skinny people that seeing someone dancing with a shape more like my own is satisfying. I'm thinking that I may take up belly dancing now.

As someone who's bellydanced a fair bit, it's not about what figure you have or how you look. It's just about how you can move, and they're not at all hard. A more traditional style of bellydance doesn't even require choreography, just knowing the moves and your fellow dancers well enough you know who's leading (the person who comes up with the moves that you do next) and being able to read their body well enough to tell just what they intend to do next.

@@louisbrugnoni1291 Hey! It really depends on culture and social constructs. As a skinny minnie born around a lot of fully figured women, I have seen both sides of the coin. I've always wished I had a larger figure and a big booty and stuff, because I felt it would make me more physically attractive, but I now know there are men who do like skinny girls.

I discovered this song on a cold, rainy day on the notoriously mystical island, Chiloé. A violinist was performing it in the street and it took me months to figure out what the song was. I am so grateful that I was able to, the melody is so addicting. For months I literally went crazy trying to figure out who played it

Electric Daisy Violin I would say Mirage, Hold My Heart, Shatter Me, Shadows, and "Minimal Beat" make up the rest of my top 10 in an unknown order, with "We are Giants" and "Arena" following close behind (for these 2, in the order presented). Prism, Take Flight, and "Beyond the Veil" are among my least favourite (not that I don't like them, they just are in the bottom of the Lindsey Stirling barrel for me.
