I struggled trying to fit this make of stair gate and could not understand the instructions and came across your video,you clearly explained how to fit this gate. thankyou so much. the lindam site is down.the gate is for keeping my little dog safe when i have to open my front door!

Thank you for your demonstration. We bought this in the USA and it was used. I have done all the steps until the screwed into wall circular things that keep it from shifting. Mine didn't come with those. What are they called? I need to buy them at a hardware store I am guessing.

Hi, great video, just a few questions; 1) I dont have power drill can I just use regular screw driver? 2) I need safety gate at top of stairs, so think screw would be safer, but rented accommodation, will the holes in wall be very big??? Thank you in advance

+Kiran Kaur Yes, you can use a screwdriver. Just check with your landlord before doing it ;-)

Did the wall cups come with the gate?

Do you need to use the screw bits I've got mine but not allowed to put holes in walls etc

Yes, you definitely need to use the screw bits. They are essential to prevent the safety gate from being pushed out of position, which could be fatal for a child!

did you use the plastic things to put in before the screw??

Yes, the plastic parts are screwed in position using the screws.

use a wall saver with soft rubber before screw that will be great

my automatic child gate my husband fell on it i put gate back on but the gate its self when u open it it come off the gate does anyone help

Why didn't you use a hardware mounted gate? This type of gate is not meant to be used at the top of the stairs. The bar at the bottom is a tripping hazard for adults and children. The wall cups give a false sense of security. The gate is still not directly attached to a solid surface (wall/newel post).

***** .Yes I do. Please refer to these web sites regarding use of pressure gates at top of stairs. www.consumerreports.org/cro/safety-gates/buying-guide.htm.And www.kidco.com/products-page/pressure-mount-gates/. Unfortunately some manufacturers do say that these type of gates can be used, but look at the warning on their instructions. They acknowledge the danger but there is no warning on the actual gate, just a small print warning on the instructions which most people wouldn't notice, assuming they read the instructions. Would you still install one of these at the top of the stairs now that you are aware of the pitfalls ( pun intended!)?

Yehudah Franken The first link in your reply does not work as their site is down. The second link points to another manufacturer- not Lindam. I have found the instructions here- www.lindam.com/uploads/resources/ld67_English_Wall_Cups.pdf Which do actually say that you can use this gate at the top of the stairs.

***** Hi Handyman: Yes, their instructions do say it is OK, but it really isn't OK. The other manufacturer (KIDCO) clearly states that on their web site. They make the same type of gate. The other link was to a web site from Consumer reports. If you wish I can send the information to your email. I'm not familiar with using these youtube comments to communicate with someone. Yehudah Franken So your original post saying this type of gate is not meant for use at the top of the stairs when it actually is because it says so in the instructions is incorrect. I only made the video showing how to install it as it may help people. If you have concerns over the safety of the gate or the suitability please contact the manufacturers.
