Lincoln Project releases attack ad on Sen. Josh Hawley

An online petition declared Missouri Senator Josh Hawley "needs to be removed from office," and thousands signed on in agreement.
This follows a chaotic scene at the United States Capitol the same day Hawley led the effort in the Senate to reject Joe Biden's electoral victory, due to unsubstantiated claims of election insecurity.
The petition was taken off MoveOn.org without explanation by Thursday evening, but only after it gained more than 20,00 signatures. That makes it about as consequential, legally speaking, as if it was still available, said St. Louis University Law professor Anders Walker.
“A United States senator cannot be recalled. Only a vote in the Senate to expel a senator can remove an acting senator,” he said. “If people want to get rid of Senator Hawley, they're going to have to vote in 2024,” he said.

While I agree that his attorney would advise him as you stated -- I think there is a most likely reason... As with the majority of everything Hawley claims, he has no intention of backing it up. Like his pals Cruz, MJT, Boebert -- they make inflammatory claims with no basis in fact -- claims that divide people and hurt our nation -- all for their own political gain. I hate whataboutisms but there was over 1.5 billion dollars worth of damage over the past 6 months on innocent people and businesses, police forced to stand down, autonomous zones created in Portland with multiple dead and a women raped. The police could do nothing because local politicians allowed it for progressive points. If that wasnt enough there were democrats posting about bail out funds for those arrested. One of them even said 'since when did protests need to be peaceful?'. Since then the stage of acceptable violent behaviour has been set, its a damn shame that this is the level of discourse in the states.. I dont agree with what happened a few days ago, every rioter should be arrested, but the double standards are telling. I believe these politians are being wrongly attacked, they shouldn't be forced to resign because of this, if feels like an opportunistic take from the democrats. If there was no grounds to force them to resign before the riot there should be none now, or else there shouldn't even be an option to object in the first place.

Even at what happened at US Capitol terrorist attack (lets be clear here, it was). Trump supporters were calling black police officers Nigga's and other racist comments. This isn't an opportunistic from the democrat party, this is what they should be bloody doing, doing their bloody job, unlike the freak that is in The White House who's supporters have t-shirts that support the Hilter holocaust. And finally, there was many hours of delay of getting request for National Guard to be sent in, because The White House and Donald Trump was watching it unfold. lol Oh, he understands it well. He's simply a narcissist: a walking characterological disorder who genuinely believes the rules and laws of society and the social contract apply to everyone else BUT him. He believes he is special and, therefore, entitled to "special" treatment. He will always resist taking accountability for his actions, choices, and words, and shift-the-blame onto others for his own failings and missteps. This is what all narcissists do, and it is predictable.

@@awcindy Yeh, well that's their cross to bear now. If you accept his statement as clearly made and honestly intended, then h would have to fail his class on constitutional law. I suspect that he has never closely read his publishing contract either. I most certainly has a clause which allows the publisher to terminate whenever their author does something which would bring disrepute on the company by its association with him.. Doesn't have to be fair; probably doesn't have to be true. It only has to tarnish the image of the publisher. If so, having the people who bankrolled your campaign dump you as unfit, having the senior Republican in your state openly state that supporting you was the worst mistake he ever made, and an online campaign for your resignation or recall backed by more than a hundred thousand of your constituents in just a few days, I think that's an open and shut case proving disrepute by association. Let him keep doubling down and toughing it out; he'll get what Trump got.

@@1417d - Bush was a train wreck but Trump doesn’t even deserve the title of “president“. He is by far historically the worst. As for the Democratic Party, no they aren’t perfect. Nobody is. We all know that. In fact I am an independent and have voted across party lines. But over the last two decades, at least the Democratic Party has held it together for our nation despite all the misinformation and propaganda coming from Fox and the right wing. As we all just witnessed, the radicalization of that base is interested in nothing less but a white supremacist take over. Go through all of the footage from those right wing “news” organizations over the last two decades. You’ll see nothing but a lot of “wink, wink”, regarding their xenophobic projections. And in some cases not even a wink. Trump merely spoke in blatant terms that excited that base which is why we saw what happened. Thanks to the Internet, people are reinforcing their own little rabbit holes. Out of curiosity I checked the water marks on some of the videos coming from the Capitol insurrection that news organizations had to pay for and you are led straight to white supremacist websites filled with all kinds of idiotic conspiracies. What we are seeing is people who are uninformed, have very little life experience and continuously reinforce their prejudices. I don’t even recognize the GOP anymore. That said - I will stick with the Democrats until the GOP gets their house in order.

Remember, these are the same people who backed those bigoted bakers in NY because they didn't want to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple. They say it is their bakery/business and they can decide who they want to do business with or not for themselves. Well, looks like this business, Simon & Schuster, is exercising the exact same right. Same goes for Twitter, FB and any other private business that doesn't want to do business with these people. Always funny when this shit comes back around to bite them in the ass.
