    couple of observations.. Not criticism just observations, 1st, you never ever go through water if you can avoid it, especially not in winter, second you used the last of your drinking water to extenguish a fire. NEVER waste potable water in a real survival situation NEVER..

    great vid lily scenery was awesome nice canyon.... that rock was amasing... ho man when i saw you jumped into the water i got cold with you hahaha i have seen 2 mistake one not big deal and one could cost your life i am a climber i climbed over 100 mountain in the canadian rockies since the past 20 years the first mistake try to always get heel first when you go down a slope. in the begining it hard but it save lots energy and you have more stability (that was the not big deal) second mistake the prusik you've made has to be above your belay device if that prusik tangle in it your are screwed you have to cut and if you... you know cut the ropre well it's over also it has to be in the same harnest loop of your belay device Under then that love it waiting for your next episode cheers

  • @2Sweeney2

    @2Sweeney2

    9 жыл бұрын

    Maybe I don't understand you correctly, jaidejasigne, but I think she is using the prusik correctly. In this constellation, the prusik is used to jam the controlling rope in case you are not able to control it yourself (e.g. in case of injury), which prevents you from falling. This is also why it is correct to not put it in the loop with the belay device. The prusik is a backup for the controlling rope here, so it *has* to be below your belaying device, otherwise you will not have the jamming effect and fall if you are not able to control the rope. BTW, really cool video, Lilly!

    Ok firstly, I love you Lily your a great ambassador for outdoor lifestyle, you are a very competent 'woodsgirl'. I know your trying to do a TV style show and thats all cool...now here is the 'but' Stop running, survival is not about running and your going to get hurt, not a matter of 'if' its a matter of when. That moron Bear Grylls has a lot to answer for in his stupid vs wild show don't repeat his stupidity. Abseiling into freezing water, running through the woods for no reason is just stupid, stop with the 'sensationalism' you dont need it and the people who support your channel do not want to see you hurt. Walking slowly off that mountain with you explaining the process, what to look for etc would have been much more entertaining than jumping around like a loon. .

    Of course not! The camera person picked it up after you finished the shot. Or you did. It is just a little funny to watch you run away with the rope still hanging from the cliff! I love your stuff, Lilly. However, me and a few others are still wondering exactly where you were for the "Canadian Wilderness" video of last summer. I left a few comments on that one. Keep it up! These videos are fun!

    rather than a canteen I would recommend a camelbak because its easier to access and it takes up less room in your bag.

    Sorry but I agree with Kyle still, it's very unlikely that you'll survive 2 days in the wild with 1 litre of water, so the canteen alone isn't practical. I use a 2 lt camelbak to store drinking water plus a military canteen, so I have a full day reserve in the bladder, plus enough water in the canteen to cook dinner and breakfast. If you're exterting you know you need more than one litre a day (I use almost 2 lt but I'm 70 kg), and, unless you're high in the mountains (just under glaciers), the water you'll find will need treatment so you need to boil it in the evening and a 2 lt bladder ensures you some buffer to manage all that. if you carry tablets instead, I found that dropping a tablet in the 1 lt canteen makes it taste like s#it so I use 1 every 1.5 litre in the bladder and let it sit a bit longer (not if the water is muddy or in a place with lots of animals around OC). Finally, the bladder allows you to carry quite some water from a creek to camp when you want to do other things like putting out a fire for good or washing stuff etc. So all in all the canteen-bladder combo is, IMHO, strongly advisable, also because the bladder doesn't take up much space and weight if empty.
