--------
In a recent interview, rapper Lil Rob spoke with Justin Hunte about his upbringing in a small Mexican neighborhood in San Diego called La Colonia at Eden Gardens. He discussed his childhood growing up in a tight-knit community of family and friends, where his childhood home was a house his grandmother constructed from leftover wood from the racetrack where his grandfather worked. Growing up, Lil Rob was exposed to different musical genres through his older siblings. From breakdancing to party DJing, the influence of his family played a pivotal role towards his music career. Lil Rob reminisced about how he handed out his first vinyl as a teenager in Tijuana, beginning his journey in hip-hop that he still carries forward today. His upbringing, coupled with the influence of his family and the vibrant culture of his hometown, shaped the artist Lil Rob is today. To hear more, including Lil Rob speaking about his biggest song, "Summer Nights," hit the full interview above.

What Lil Rob didn’t want to say is that back in the 80’s here in San Diego only the urban Ghetto’s saw the epidemic kick off which was communities that had Brown and Black people. Eden Gardens was a small piece of land surrounded by affluent white people and Rob and his people where the work force for a majority of that area. Very little to no black people there. If you came down to South East San Diego or East Side San Diego we had it all. Heroin, crack, Sherman, weed ect.

Solana wasn't how it is now, especially now, there's a video on KZread if you search Eden gardens 1992, when he was a kid you can see how it was, even now the old Mexican families are being bought out, there's.lioe 5-6 construction projects here in E.G going over old homes making them these fucking modern condos..fucking sucks

I was tripping out when i passed by last weekend. Didn’t expect to see such a wealthy community. But you're right, things must’ve changed throughout the years.
