Lil Majin VS Tekken 8

Ойындар

Now that I'm getting close to getting Dragunov in Tekken 8; it's time to peep what King is like in Tekken 8. But to do that, we gotta pay homage to Lil Majin who is the true King main in Tekken 8 IMO

    Lil majin the man who Suplex'd the gods of tekken. The small story behind how he did all that is so crazy. King always had a following. He is a all time favorite grappler of anyone who has ever heard of him. Problem with that, he isnt that great. High play tekken people are gonna know the breaks and King is on the slower side when it comes to most characters in tekken. People still loved him so when a Man went the distance with a fan favorite. He became a legend in many eye's of the FGC.

    Actually, spamming grabs does work for all characters at high ranks. At the very least you have a free 50/50 for 40 DMG and no punish with a positioning of your choice. If you are even a little good, you can mix all of this up with mids and various other things to make people freeze up for even more grabs.

    keep in mind he was going against all Korean top players and Korea was dominating the scene in Tekken until Arslan Ash showed up. But during that year and all time before that, you rarely see an American player reaches top 8 in Tekken. That is why Lil Majin is a legend.

  • @steviegreenthumb4720
    @steviegreenthumb47204 ай бұрын

    So a lot of how lil majin and high level king players make those grabs land is by treating them like a straight mix up, with the command grabs, they all require a very specific break, but also he doesn't do the obvious things in a lot of cases, eg, everyone expects the shining wizard (running knee) grab when you sprint up to them, so he would spend time in earlier rounds conditioning them to certain responses, then hit em with the grab mix ups to catch them off guard and hide what specific grab he could be doing if that makes sense. King has some really cool mind games he can play with.

    TheMainManSWE recently released a video on fighting King that does a good job explaining why reliably escaping all his throws is a pretty tall order, and not even the best Tekken players will be able to do it if the King really knows what they're doing. TLDR, King has several throws that require different inputs to escape, but some have the exact same animation and are total 50/50's. So banking on being able to tech King throws reliably against the right King is essentially just gambling your life away

    Alright Afro, the blue spark grabs are from two specific king throws. Forward-Half-circle-forward 1 or 2. Or simply just forward-back-down-forward. If you do the input very quickly the blue effect at 20:04 shows up. With blue spark, the grab does more damage and has a smaller tech window. (And gets a cool cinematic camera!)

    Blue spark means it does more damage. Or in hwoarang’s case with his just frame sky rocket, it recovers faster.

    Best advice i can give you afro is utilize practice and replays. You have so much potential honestly I would keep playing both drag and king and peep all their moves little by little. neutral pokes into setups make this game. movement as well as course.

    The thing with some of kings more intricate grabs, if you don’t tech the first or second move, you can’t break the rest of the grab so it’s free damage if you miss it early

    dont worry about players teching grabs at higher play. The counter to this is mixing up your throw game, no play can break every throw

    Yes. Yes Lil Majin absolutely put King on the map and inspired many such as myself to get good at tekken and main Armor King! To this day many including myself believe he is the best king in the world despite his hiatus. Truly an American Tekken hero whos return we all cant wait to see in T8! You gotta get a video with him Afro! 💪🏽 would be legendary brother.

    To answer yout question regarding if grabs in T8 are worse than in T7: Throws are actually significantly stronger in 8 due to counter hit throws and the different throw break windows. But they are still reactable and once you get into those blue ranks most people will tech most of them, which is why majin is not using them as much.

    When he was at the wall he did a specific grab to break it, I don’t play but I’ve been watching a lot and it seems to help players when they do thay

    11:59 The Blue Spark that LilMajin was talking about refers to a frame perfect grab that is harder to tech (break) and deals more damage, same concept with Electric Wind God Fist (EWGF) that Mishimas use that are super powerful but are hard to execute in matches.
