This was especially funny for me since I'm in a community choir, and we are working on Brahms' German Requiem, and the pronunciation direction we are given is that ending syllables like this are unstressed, schwa vowel, no 'r' sound. I.e., like Arnie was doing it, as "neigh-buh" (well, until it turned into a shouting match and he started really emphasized the final syllable and shading it more towards "bah" for comedic effect). Makes sense, as he comes from a German-speaking country.
